The Premier League have confirmed that West Ham youth star Veron Parkes is available for transfer in the upcoming window, per Football Insider.

The striker has chosen not to sign his first professional contract with the Hammers and is looking to join a club elsewhere.

This is news that Celtic will welcome, as they have previously been linked with the 18-year-old.

Parkes is looking for a club that could offer a pathway into some first-team football and believes Celtic is a club that could offer that.

The news came from Premier League clubs releasing their official retained list, in which Parkes did not feature.

It would reportedly cost Celtic around £300,000 to sign Parkes, which could potentially be a steal depending on his ability.

As with all players so young, it’s hard to know what abilities he possesses but the forward has some impressive stats from the youth games he’s played this season – scoring 13 goals and providing six assists in 19 games for their Under-18s and Under-23s.

It could prove to be a shrewd piece of business bringing Parkes in for such a small fee.

Interest has come from some English sides as well as teams across Europe, but Celtic seems like a destination Parkes would like to pursue.
