It looks like Fraser Forster won’t be joining Celtic next season, with Southampton offering the 32-year-old a chance to become their number one and as such, Joe Hart is now very much in the mix to be Celtic’s goalkeeper next year.
Hart is a free agent after leaving Burnley and he’s already spoken to Celtic about potentially joining The Hoops on a free transfer.
Judging by the replies to our post about Hart on our Facebook Page, it’s fair to say that Hoops fans have mixed opinions about the possilibity of the former England international moving to the Scottish champions.
Here are just a few of the replies we had:
Adam Duncan: If we can’t get Forster, then this would be a great signing. Lost his way a bit in recent years but an England international with 75 caps is worth the risk for sure.
Vincent Vega: It’s not a question of being past it or not! The fact is, he is prone to mistakes and I don’t think he has enough quality to support our defence, he can’t hold down a place at any club recently so why would we make him our number 1?
Declan Dickie: For everyone slagging Joe Hart off, what was Forster doing before he came back? What was Gordon doing before he signed? Joe Hart will be fine.
Andrew Semple: Joe Hart could cost us 10IAR. We don’t want him anywhere near Paradise.
Frankie Beveridge: All he needs is his confidence back, working with Steve woods and Lenny will do him a treat. Look at Forster last season, he was outstanding after being dropped with Southampton and having a shocker down south so give the guy a chance if he signs.
Brian Kelly: If Burnley won’t give him a game, I think that says it all. Celtic are a huge club, we don’t want has-beens.
Martin Scott: Lubo was meant to be past it when we signed him, Sutton was meant to be past it when we signed him, Hartson was a medical failure when we signed him. Let’s have faith in our manager, if he thinks he’s good enough then we trust the gaffer.
Matt Kielthy: We can do better. Joe is living on his reputation which has been on the slide for a long time now. We don’t need losers now.
Ryan Maguire: A lot of people said the same about Gordon and look how he turned out. I say give him a chance to prove himself. It’s not the worst option if we can’t get Big Forster back! And he wasn’t getting a game at Southampton before he came to Paradise either.
Kieran Brown: Was a good keeper but lost form and confidence. Would have taken him years ago but not right move for us now.
