Celtic are going head-to-head with Nottingham Forest to capture the signature of highly-rated winger Corey Blackett-Taylor, according to Football Insider.

The 22-year-old is currently at Tranmere Rovers, following a move from Aston Villa, but he has caught the eye of Celtic and Championship play-off hopefuls, Nottingham Forest.

The winger predominantly operated on the left-hand side for Tranmere and had a decent return in all competitions, scoring five goals and providing six assists.

Birmingham-born Blackett-Taylor had a very good FA Cup campaign and put in a Man of the Match display against Premier League outfit Watford in Rovers’ third-round victory over the Hornets.

Blackett-Taylor joined Villa’s academy at just 11-years-old and came through the ranks at the West Midlands side, making his one and only appearance for the first team against Huddersfield in 2017.

Football Insider also reports that various scouts have been really impressed with Blackett-Taylor’s performances this season and rate him very highly.

You can’t envisage that his price tag will be too high given the Rovers were relegated back to League Two and although he has mostly played on the left for Tranmere, it appears that he’s comfortable on both flanks.

This type of versatility could provide a good option for Neil Lennon’s side and squad depth could be a key factor in The Hoops’ quest for 10 in a row.

It may be worth taking the risk on the young winger, especially if the price tag is relatively low.
