Celtic issue ‘hands-off’ Odsonne Edouard warning

Celtic issued a ‘hands-off’ warning to Newcastle United as they took interest in the availability of Odsonne Edouard, according to a report from The Daily Mail.

The Hoops are expected to rebuke any approaches for their prolific striker as Premier League interest ramps up with the Magpies joined by Leicester City and Crystal Palace in pursuit of the striker. 

The Magpies were believed to be readying a deal to take the 22-year-old this summer, but the report claims that Celtic have issued a stern hands-off warning to Steve Bruce and any other suitors.

Edouard is arguably the key figure in this current Hoops squad, certainly when it comes to goalscoring. 

Last season’s top scorer already has three in two Scottish Premiership matches this year too, and he grabbed another in Neil Lennon’s side’s 6-0 thrashing of KR Reykjavík on Tuesday evening.

The Frenchman has been prolific for the Celtic Park club since his arrival from PSG in 2018, with 66 goals in 129 appearances, better than one every two matches. 

The Bhoys will know they are going to face a battle to hold on to their prized asset in the long-term, although if he leads them to 10 titles in a row this season perhaps his work may well be done, but for now, the news that Edouard isn’t for sale this summer should be seen as a massive, massive boost for Celtic fans across the world
