Celtic Defender Looking To Force Exit

Celtic defender Kristoffer Ajer is looking to force a move away from Parkhead during the international break, according to Football Insider.

The report claims that the Norweigan’s representatives are using the international break to engineer a “big-money” move away from the Scottish champions amid interest from European clubs.

This comes after Hoops boss Neil Lennon questioned the integrity of some of his stars following the Champions League defeat to Ferencvaros, saying:

Get your mentality right, get your attitude right. If some of you don’t want to be here, leave.

Now, it seems the 22-year-old may have taken heed from his manager’s words.

The potential departure of Ajer, whilst it remains a concern given his performances, is perhaps slightly less of a blow following the arrival of Shane Duffy this week.

Having joined the club aged 17 from homeland club Start for a £540,000 fee (transfermarkt), Celtic would be extremely confident of making a major profit on the senior Norway international.

Should Ajer express a desire to leave, it is probable Lennon will stand firm to his word and grant the defenders wish, provided that a club matches Celtic’s valuation.

The money generated from the potential transfer could then allow the Irish boss to strengthen multiple areas of his squad.
