Union Berlin forward Sebastian Andersson has been linked with moves to numerous clubs this summer, including Celtic and it looks like the Swedish star is keen to secure a move away from the Bundesliga side.

Union Berlin defeated Karlsruher SC 1-0 over the weekend in the German Cup but did so without Andersson and after the game, coach Urs Fischer told BuliNews that he left the player out after he handed in a transfer request.

Reports in Germany have linked the player with a move to Celtic, but they also claim that a few English teams are interested in him too, with West Brom and Watford seemingly showing the most interest in the 29-year-old, so it remains to be seen which club he’s trying to force a move to.

It does seem like Andersson has been on Celtic’s radar for a while but given the addition of Albian Ajeti to Leigh Griffiths and Odsonne Edouard, it does seem like a move to The Hoops would make little sense for the Swede and for Neil Lennon.

Of course, there are still some doubts over the futures of both Edouard and Griffiths but given that there doesn’t seem to be anything concrete in the pipeline regarding a move for either, then we can’t see Celtic being the team who Andersson is trying to force a transfer to.
