Hatem Abd Elhamed featured at left-back for Israel against Scotland on Thursday, and his impressive display had plenty of Celtic fans talking.
The 29-year-old was on the losing side at Hampden Park, with Israel’s hopes of qualifying for next year’s European Championships over after a playoff semi-final shootout defeat to Steve Clarke’s side.
However, several Hoops supporters believe Neil Lennon now has another left-back option at Parkhead for the future in Elhamed.
Greg Taylor has been a mainstay on the left this season, with Lennon bolstering his options with the signing of Diego Laxalt from AC Milan on deadline day.
Here is what these Celtic fans had to say on social media about Elhamed’s performance and a possible position change at Parkhead in the future.
Twitter: Elhamed at left-wing back for Israel? Should have given that a shot

Twitter: @Bhoy1888Celtic1 Said it earlier, get him at left wing back instead of Taylor (@LaurenTee13)
Twitter: @Bhoy1888Celtic1 Shame Lennon never realised how good he is on the left. Taylor would have been warming the bench all season. (@Doveymuir91)
Twitter: @Bhoy1888Celtic1 Shame Lennon doesn’t know El Hamed or Bittons best positions. (@danielsteven6)
Twitter: @Stephen4_2 If i sae Elhamed for the first time last night I’d be shouting him as the answer to our problem left wing back position (@ScottKillen88)
Twitter: @CelticFC @ScotlandNT Elhamed had a great game at left wing back!
(@csgaz)
Twitter: Maybe celtic didn’t need a new left sided defender the boy from Milan elhamed was excellent as left wing bk (@andyhy88)
Twitter: Elhamed would be a better option than Taylor on the left (@stephenlynch81)
Elhamed arrived at the club last summer, and his chances of featuring as a left-back in green and white could now be slim due to Laxalt’s arrival.
However, his display on Thursday proved he’d be able to comfortably fill in on the left if ever required in the future.
Definitely food for thought for Lennon.
