Celtic and Liverpool were just two clubs linked with a move for Sampdoria defender Omar Colley over the summer.

The Hoops had a £10m bid turned down for the 28-year-old but the Serie A side are now looking to sell the centre-back – and plenty of Hoops fans want Celtic to go back in for the Gambia international.

Sampdoria reportedly want to do everything they can to recover their 2020 financial losses by selling Colley, who is valued at £11m. That means the Hoops would need to break their transfer record to secure Colley’s services unless they can manage to negotiate a deal under £9m.

We shared the update regarding Sampdoria’s stance on the defender on our Read Celtic Facebook page.

We asked if a centre-back should be a priority, with many giving the club the thumbs-up to reignite their interest in the African defender.

Marc Jon: Yes this guy is good and playing in a tough league. Sign him in a heartbeat. That being said most of us thought Duffy would be good

Frankie Hamill: Should have signed him in the summer but usual Celtic do everything the hard way

Paul Murphy: 100% yes

Adam Billy Keane: If we sign him either Ajer or Jullien must be going.

Derek Malcolm: Defo

Richie McCulloch: Centre back and decent keeper on loan quick smart

David Craig: Yes definitely the defence has to be strengthened if they want to win trophies.

Colley has only made two league appearances this season, so if the Hoops are still keen, a deal could be possible during the January window.
