St Johnstone midfielder Ali McCann was reportedly being watched by Celtic scout Tosh McKinlay on the weekend.

However, several Celtic supporters aren’t so keen on the club firming up their apparent interest in the youngster.

McCann played the entirety of St Johnstone’s 1-1 draw with Motherwell at McDiarmid Park on Saturday, and McKinlay may have come away impressed with the midfielder’s display.

He recorded a WhoScored rating of 6.93 – ending with the highest pass accuracy out of all 22 starters on the weekend (87.5%).

McCann also recently caught the eye of Northern Ireland boss Ian Baraclough on international duty.

Following the interesting scouting news, we shared the update on our official Read Celtic Twitter and Facebook pages on Monday, asking fans if they would like to see the 20-year-old at Parkhead.

These fans replied, stating their views on the idea of McCann moving to Celtic Park in the near future.

Michael Fabisiak: We don’t need any more players for the future, we need to follow Rangers example and bring in players who can fit right in, and hit the ground running. Not players who are too young, and not players who need a couple of months to get fit.

Christopher Paterson: It’s more the goalie and defence that needs sorted big time

Douglas Cowie: Another bench warmer, no doubt.

Where do Celtic need to strengthen in January?

Central midfielder

Craig Doherty: No point signing youngsters. Will just waste their career. Long list of it. Woeful.

Michael McWilliams: We not long signed Turnbull? Where’s he? Soro? Dembele? Luca Connell? Gutman? Etc all young lads who probably under current set up may never see 1st team Football! No point signing another unless he can walk straight into that Team, ie Laxalt
