Odsonne Edouard could be on his way out of Celtic when the winter transfer window opens as his performances have waned at the same time the Hoops have struggled in the Scottish Premiership.

The 22-year-old has been linked with a move to Juventus by Calciomercato, but it seems unlikely that he will join the Old Lady for a number of reasons.

Juventus have Cristiano Ronaldo and Paulo Dybala contracted until 2022 as well as Alvaro Morata on loan until the end of the season (with an option to buy thereafter), so they aren’t in a major rush to sign a striker.

The Bianconeri were linked with Luis Suarez, Edin Dzeko, Raul Jimenez and Alexandre Lacazette earlier this season, so it’s clear that they have their sights set on more experienced players than 22-year-old Edouard.

Neil Lennon called the Frenchman ‘special’ in August after his hat-trick in Celtic’s 5-1 win over Hamilton at the start of the season, but a lot has changed since then – Edouard has scored two goals in his last 10 league games, in which time the Hoops have fallen well off the pace in the Premiership title hunt.

Edouard is out of contract in 2022 and may be unlikely to sign a new deal at Parkhead, so Celtic will want to extract as much money as possible from his sale. They slapped a £40m asking price on his head over the summer, but it’s hard to see Juventus matching their demands when they don’t have any great need for attacking reinforcements.
