Odsonne Edouard has an uncertain future at Celtic as the January transfer window approaches.

The Frenchman has been linked with a move away from Parkhead as the Hoops’ pursuit of a 10th consecutive Premiership title lies in jeopardy and Sport Mediaset (via CalcioNews24) claimed that AC Milan is a potential destination for him

Zlatan Ibrahimovic is currently out with a calf injury and his contract at the San Siro expires next summer, so the Rossoneri will need a replacement. Sport Mediaset claimed that Milan would ideally like to sign a striker when the winter transfer window opens and have pinpointed Edouard as their ‘vice-Ibra‘, but it remains to be seen whether Celtic would let the 22-year-old leave mid-season.

The Frenchman has scored 71 goals and supplied 35 assists in 149 games since first joining Celtic from Paris Saint-Germain in 2017, but his form this season has left a bit to be desired. Edouard has scored 10 goals in 21 games, but he only has three assists to his name since August and has only netted twice in the Premiership since September (Transfermarkt), leading to occasional criticism of his performances.

Celtic were open to selling Edouard for the right price amid summer interest from Aston Villa, Crystal Palace, Everton, Leicester City and Newcastle United, but what will happen in January?

He may not quite be at his best this season but is still the Hoops’ second-highest scorer in 2020/21, with twice as many as the next most prolific players (Transfermarkt), so letting him leave next month could be a massive gamble.
