Celtic have been ‘alerted’ to the availability of former winger Patrick Roberts, according to the Daily Record.
However, the latest transfer link hasn’t gone down too well with several Hoops supporters on social media, with many against a return for the wide man.
Neil Lennon is reportedly looking to bolster his wide options in the winter window following James Forrest’s injury issues, with Roberts falling out of favour under Neil Warnock at the Riverside in recent months.
Roberts, 23, made 78 appearances in green and white across a two-season loan spell between 2016-2018.
He’s turned out just seven times for Boro this season, though, and could be allowed to cut his temporary stay short in search for regular game time.
We shared the story on our official Read Celtic Facebook and Twitter pages on Wednesday morning.
These Celtic fans were quick to give their reaction, with many not keen on a potential Parkhead return for the winger.
Twitter: @ReadCeltic Why don’t we look forward with signings instead of constantly mentioning the likes of Paddy and Fraser,… https://t.co/3zee6Vyf8w (@Tony1cfc)
Twitter: @ReadCeltic No thanks (@hailhail25567)
Stephen Scobie: No thanks
Wullie Allan: No no no
Joe McKane: No way
Martin Burns: HOPE NOT!!!!!!
Dan Mcgourty: Nooooooo he can’t get a game at any other club, leave him in the past!!
John Maxwell: He’s failed everywhere else. He was in a good Celtic team under BR. That made him look good
Dara Brádaigh: In all fairness, if these lads aren’t starting in the Championship why are we looking to take them back. Especially when they’ve had the chance to come back and chose to go elsewhere instead.
