Celtic are closing in on the signing of Everton right-back Jonjoe Kenny.

That’s according to Sky Sports, who claim that the 23-year-old will make the move to Parkhead on loan for the rest of the season.

Kenny, valued at £6.3m on Transfermarkt, has made eight appearances in all competitions for the Toffees this season.

The transfer report doesn’t state any option to buy for the Hoops, who lost Jeremie Frimpong to Bayer Leverkusen last week.

Neil Lennon needed a right-back for the second half of the season, and it seems he’ll be getting one with the signing of Kenny.

However, to us, the club should have been looking at a more long-term option, as it seems the boyhood Hoops fan will head back to Merseyside at the end of the season.

Are you disappointed it looks likely to just be a loan?

If Kenny impresses at Parkhead, though, there may well be scope to explore a permanent deal.

But after selling Frimpong for a large fee, we expected the club to do some sort of permanent business to bring in a replacement.
