Three names have emerged to become Celtic‘s new sporting director, according to the Daily Mail.

The report claimed that the Hoops are looking to improve their football operations with the newly-created position, with Juventus first team scout Matteo Tognozzi in the mix to land the job.

David Webb, previously of Bournemouth and Huddersfield, is also in the frame, along with Manchester City’s Loan and Pathways manager Fergal Harkin.

The Daily Mail added that Celtic have asked Nolan Partners to create a shortlist of candidates for interview, while also revealing that chairman Ian Bankier will update supporters on future plans in a video statement.

With Dominic McKay coming in to replace the retiring Peter Lawwell in the summer as CEO, we feel as if the club are on the right tracks by searching for a sporting director.

Hopefully, that will then give the right balance between boardroom and dugout, with the club looking for an immediate response to the disappointing 2020/21 campaign.

It remains to be seen who is most likely to receive the job out of the three names mentioned, but if an appointment can be made prior to the summer, that could give the Hoops the perfect chance to begin rebuilding on the pitch.
