Celtic supporters react to Stephen O’Donnell links
Motherwell right-back Stephen O’Donnell has been linked with a move back to Parkhead. And, as to be expected, plenty of Celtic supporters have had their say on the Scotland international on social media.
According to The Times, cited by the Glasgow Evening Times, O’Donnell would “jump at the chance” to return to Celtic Park this summer.
The Hoops recently lost Jeremie Frimpong to Bayer Leverkusen and Hatem Elhamed to Hapoel Be’er Sheva, so could be willing to add to their right-back ranks prior to the 2021/22 campaign.
O’Donnell is currently with Motherwell, where he has made 29 appearances in all competitions this season. However, his deal at Fir Park is set to expire at the end of May, making him a free agent if nothing changes.
We shared an opinion piece on the right-back on our official Read Celtic Facebook page on Wednesday afternoon, asking Hoops fans if they would take him back at Parkhead.
This is what some supporters had to say, with one fan describing O’Donnell as a ‘solid’ player.
Dave Joyce: Squad player yes first choice I’m not too sure.
Stephen Carruth: Yes get him in. Good solid player.
Higgins Martin: Yes get him in. Get Allan Campbell in on “freedom of contract” too in the summer….. he’s getting better all the time
David Neilson: Yes time to invest in the best Scottish players at least they will try alot harder and know what it means to play for the best team in Scotland
Gerry Mcinally: Get them to sign pre contracts the now they are doing better than our defence
O’Donnell as a squad player next season?
Yes, I'd take him
No, we can do better
John Mckenzie: The boy is more than decent, no fee involved. Get him signed.
Mark Henderson: I would along with Declan Gallagher
