Celtic have been linked with a pre-contract move for Burnley’s Robbie Brady over the last seven days to go with the one they secured for Liam Shaw this week.

The Daily Mirror reported that Neil Lennon sees the Republic of Ireland international as a key part of his future Parkhead plans, with his deal at Turf Moor set to expire at the end of June.

However, it seems as if Brady, who made one senior appearance for Manchester United earlier in his career, may not be a free agent in the summer after all. Burnley manager Sean Dyche revealed that the Clarets are in talks with the 29-year-old over a new deal, as reported by the Glasgow Evening Times.

With Lennon keen on a deal for Brady, reports of a new contract being discussed in Lancashire could come as a blow to the Celtic manager. On the other hand, many Hoops supporters weren’t exactly thrilled at hearing the links to Brady, so they may not be too worried at the update.

No

Primarily a left midfielder, Brady can also play on the right and even at left-back, so his versatility could prove useful next season. He also has 54 international caps and more than 150 Premier League appearances to his name, so he may well be a marquee acquisition by the Hoops.

However, it appears that Burnley are keen to extend his deal, so a potential summer move to Parkhead may not materialise.
