Horrific, poor, lacklustre, uninspiring, dross: I don’t know how to describe that performance. Ross County jump from bottom to 10th place with a 1-0 win over Celtic in Dingwall.
It is County’s second win over us this season. Amazingly: they beat us with one manager, sacked him, hired another and beat us again.
Even before going behind, it was an incredibly dull game of football. More of the same stuff that we’ve witnessed so often this season, a passive and incredibly slow game with too many passengers on Celtic’s team. How many times do we need to pass it sideways and backwards?
Jordan White broke the deadlock with 19 minutes to spare with another set-piece we failed to defend. Sky Sports reported after the game that 43% of league goals we’ve conceded this season have came from set pieces.
Credit to John Hughes and his players, who kept us at bay and took their chances. It’s amazing what a well-drilled team with competent management can do.
Eight games to go until the season comes to a close, folks. Not long to go until we’re put out of our misery.
Here are our Celtic player ratings, which I’m sure you can imagine aren’t pretty.
Scott Bain: 5
A decent save early-on kept the score at 0-0. Didn’t amount to much, though.
Jonjoe Kenny: 4
Got forward more often than in the last couple of games, but his final ball still needs improving.
Kristoffer Ajer: 4
It seems we’re relying on Ajer making those runs out from the back and into the final third too often. He couldn’t do that this time around, though. Could he have done better for the goal?
Had a decent game by all accounts. Got forward and came close to scoring in the second half.
Leigh Griffiths (Sub): 3
Featured for 23 minutes but couldn’t influence the game. Poor decision making at times. His free kick in the last minute was off target and summed up his performance.
Mohamed Elyounoussi (Sub): 4
Had a header brilliantly saved by Ross Laidlaw in the dying minutes.
