Celtic fans react to Brian McNally’s post on Steve Clarke
Celtic’s managerial position has, as expected, been a hot topic in the footballing world over the last 24 hours.
Neil Lennon called time on his second stint as Hoops boss, with the search now on for the Northern Irishman’s long-term successor.
Well-known reporter Brian McNally weighed in with his views on Wednesday afternoon, which got plenty of Hoops fans talking.
McNally shared his opinion, believing Scotland boss Steve Clarke is the best man for the vacant post.
Perhaps unpopular with some fans but the best qualified man for the #Celtic vacancy is Scotland boss Steve Clarke.
As a respected coach he was highly suçcessful under Mourinho & impressed me with Sir Bobby Robson at Newcastle.
His record managing Killie & Scotland is excellent.— Brian McNally (@McNallyMirror) February 24, 2021
The 57-year-old, who guided Scotland to their first major tournament since 1998 last year, emerged as the frontrunner to replace Lennon two weeks ago.
The report from the Glasgow Evening Times earlier this month claimed Clarke was the favourite to succeed Lennon, should the Hoops decide to remove the Northern Irishman at the end of the current campaign.
However, now Lennon has gone before the end of the season, it remains to be seen where that leaves Clarke and the Hoops.
This is what these Celtic supporters had to say to McNally‘s post, with many agreeing with his points.
Twitter: @McNallyMirror Clarke would be a significant improvement on Lennon. Had he been in charge from the end of last seas… https://t.co/e2jFFsoRMY (@kingjobbie)
Twitter: @McNallyMirror He would certainly sort out that defence. (@rosscassidy85)
Twitter: @McNallyMirror His organisation skills would be welcome how to defend and be resilient. (@yenriacsemaj)
Twitter: @McNallyMirror Would take him or martinez/maloney (@Brocher1888)
Twitter: @McNallyMirror Said it before and I’ll say it again – I’d take Steve Clarke in a heartbeat. (@DeRebCelts)
Do you want to see Clarke in charge of Celtic?
Yes
No
Twitter: @McNallyMirror Absolutely. Should of been appointed after Rodgers left. Tactical manager who gets more out of average players than expected. (@ayton_paul)
Twitter: @McNallyMirror Don’t disagree with that Brian, I think he’d be a good appointment. (@dannybhoy170)
