Celtic’s deal for Liam Shaw unaffected following Neil Lennon’s resignation

Neil Lennon left his post as Celtic manager on Wednesday.

The Northern Irishman confirmed a week before his departure that the club had landed Sheffield Wednesday teenager Liam Shaw on a pre-contract agreement.

However, with neither club officially confirming the news, many may have been left wondering if Lennon’s exit will affect the summer deal involving the versatile ace.

According to the Yorkshire Live’s Dom Howson, who was one of the first to break the news of the 19-year-old’s pending move to Parkhead, nothing has been affected by Lennon’s resignation.

Howson once again confirmed that a pre-contract deal has been agreed and Shaw will make the move to Glasgow at the end of the season.

To us, the news of Shaw still moving to Celtic is a relief. Some supporters may have been worried that Lennon leaving could impact a deal, however, that doesn’t appear to be the case.

The Hoops were handed a transfer blow last month with long-term target Ben Davies, but thankfully, it seems as if Shaw will still be making the move north.

He’s Celtic’s first summer signing, and with a squad overhaul planned, he may well be one of many to join the club over the coming months.
