Celtic recruitment chief Nick Hammond could follow Neil Lennon out of the exit door, according to former Hoops player Frank McAvennie.
Lennon resigned on Wednesday amid a desperately disappointing season, bringing an end to his second spell at manager at Parkhead. It could be that he isn’t the only individual to move on, however, certainly in the eyes of McAvennie.
Speaking to Football Insider, the former Celtic striker has also tipped Hammond to leave, lambasting the job he has done as he raged:
The recruitment has been terrible, absolutely terrible. We have players now sat on big money in Klimala, Ajeti, Barkas and Duffy. Yes, Duffy can go back but as for the rest of them, I just do not get it.
Who in God’s name brought them in? It was big money as well. How can somebody suggest we would make money on these £5million players. It is never going to happen.
I think Hammond will be following Lenny out the door.

Hammond certainly hasn’t covered himself in glory when it comes to Celtic’s transfer dealings since arriving in October 2019, playing a key role in the team’s struggles under Lennnon.
For that reason, a change in that department could also be beneficial, further ushering in a new era at the club and freshening things up in the process.
As McAvennie has suggested, Hammond has shown that he isn’t up to the job, not getting enough out of the likes of Patryk Kilmala, Vasilis Barkas, Albian Ajeti and Shane Duffy, who were all brought in on his watch.
