Former Northern Ireland striker Jimmy Quinn has backed Eddie Howe to be the ideal successor to Neil Lennon at Celtic.

The 1986 World Cup hero has said that the former Bournemouth manager would be the perfect candidate out of all those linked with the hot seat at Celtic Park. He told the Daily Record:

That’s the only thing he doesn’t have [European experience] and also there was a blip at Burnley but in terms of getting the team fit and playing an attractive style of football then he’s more than capable of doing that.

He’s a cool customer who speaks very well, he knows how to deal with the media and fans but he’s nobody’s fool and obviously, it’s a results-driven business.

Quinn added: “Eddie’s a brilliant coach who knows his football and would be a perfect fit for Celtic.”

Whilst discussing Lennon’s departure, the 61-year-old also claimed he couldn’t see Howe ‘doing anything other than a good job’ were he to be given the role.

In his young career as a manager, Howe has earned many admirers, and with good reason.

Is Eddie Howe The Man For The Job?

Yes

No

Taking Bournemouth from the brink of dropping out of the Football League to a prolonged Premier League stay was no mean feat and should hold the 43-year-old in good stead wherever he ends up next.

With the Hoops in need of new energy at the helm, Howe could be the ideal candidate to rejuvenate Celtic, so it’s little wonder that Quinn has so staunchly backed him to take over from Lennon.
