Reports linking Celtic with the sale of Odsonne Edouard to Premier League side Brighton & Hove Albion are baseless, according to a Tweet by journalist Andy Taylor.

The Athletic journalist was responding to a fan question after reports linked the Seagulls to the Bhoys hitman.

A Brighton fan queried whether a report from the Daily Express was indeed true, with user BHAFC Stats (@BHAFCStats) linking in the journalist into the report.

Naylor declared in response that ‘there’s nothing in it’ with regards to the prospects of the Seagulls swooping for the Celtic hitman.

Edouard is widely expected to depart the club this summer with his contract due to expire in less than twelve months, with the 23-year-old also able to sign a pre-contract agreement with a non-Scottish club in January.

The club have previously sanctioned the exit of Kristoffer Ajer to a Premier League suitor in Brentford, and a previous breakdown in talks between Celtic and Leicester for Edouard implies a similar stance.

However, Naylor’s update indicates that the club are likely to continue to remain in the lurch over the future of the ex-PSG youngster.

Celtic face a nervous wait over the future of Odsonne Edouard.

Should the club sell Edouard for £13.5m?

Yes

No

Edouard has previously hinted at his desire to play in the Premier League and would surely sign as a free agent from January if given the chance to do so.

With the club facing Midtjylland today and Celtic just weeks away from the start of the Premiership season, settling the futures of key assets – most likely through raising lump sums for squad reinvestment – is sure to be an increasing priority for Ange Postecoglou’s new-look squad.
