A popular Celtic fan age has issued their hopes that former Celts will show up to embarrass the arch nemesis of the Celts.

Ligue 1 side Lyon take on Rangers in the Europa League on Thursday night, with former Celtic stars in Jason Denayer and Moussa Dembele headlining Lyon line-ups.

The duo both found the back of the net in a recent Ligue 1 clash against Strasbourg, prompting popular Celtic fan page Everything Celtic (@aboutceltic) to share footage of their goals and express a desire for their scoring escapades to continue.

“Two former Bhoys amongst the goals in Lyon tonight”, noted the page after the Strasbourg result.

“More of the same on Thursday please”.

Lyon head to Ibrox knowing that a win will set a precedent ahead of their hopeful group stage campaign, with Ange Postecoglou’s Celtic side heading into the group with the same anticipation ahead of their clash with Real Betis this week.

Dembele enjoyed a productive spell in Celtic colours, scoring 51 goals and 18 assists in just 94 senior Celtic outings. Across his career, Dembele boasts a combined goals and assists tally of 160 from 250 senior outings – all at just 25 years of age.

Dembele has frequently spoken of his fondness for Celtic long after his departure to Lyon and a goal against Rangers would possess a poetic quality to it.

Fans may enjoy keeping one eye on the result in the hope that former Bhoys turn up and cause misery for Celtic’s fierce rivals.
