One popular Celtic fan page has advocated for the Bhoys to swoop for Bodø-Glimt Fredrik Björkan on a free transfer this winter.

Norwegian left-back Björkan has confirmed that he will be leaving Bodø-Glimt as his contract expires this December.

As shared by Celtic fan account Everything Celtic (@aboutceltic) on Twitter, the account has long advocated for the club to swoop for the Norwegian defender in a free transfer and has shared the news of his imminent exit on social media.

The 22-year-old defender has also said “this is the right time for [him] to take the next step” as he seeks fresh footballing pastures.

Although Celtic have not been formally linked with the left-back, Everything Celtic has frequently mentioned the defender as a defender that should be targeted by the Bhoys to reinforce in his position.

He was linked with a January move to Leeds United, likely in a pre-contract agreement, but the club has since replaced their departed left-back Ezgjan Alioski with former Barcelona defender Junior Firpo joining over the summer to fill the void.

The defender is an astute choice by the social media account given his offensive capabilities.

At the time when he was eligible to sign a pre-contract deal, he notched up 11 assists in 106 games for his club and he has since gone on to add another in a further 17 outings.

Should Celtic sign Bjorkan on a free?

He could add further depth on the left side of the Celtic defence and offer competition to Greg Taylor, who only has academy products such as Adam Montgomery to compete with him.

Available for free, he could be a cheap acquisition that boasts plenty of senior experience although he retains his best years ahead of him at just twenty-three.
