Celtic captain Callum McGregor has delighted fans following confirmation that he has signed a new long-term deal with the club, keeping him in green and white potentially until he is 33.
The news broke on Friday afternoon with many fans flocking to Twitter to laud the contract development.
One fan commenting on the deal was Celtic podcaster, YouTuber and writer John McGinley (@jhnmcgnly) who spearheaded the positive responses to the news with a short statement.
“Despite the transfer speculation over the years, it appears Callum McGregor’s main ambition in life is to be a Celtic legend. Wonderful.”

McGregor’s existing deal ran out in 2024 and his fresh new five-year deal will further extend the boyhood Celt’s stay at Celtic Park.
As reported by the Daily Record, Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou revealed in a conference last week that he was in line to be offered fresh terms that would secure the midfielder’s stay.
This season also marks the first season in which McGregor has taken up the mantle of the captain’s armband after Scott Brown’s departure to Aberdeen over the summer.
