When it comes to the performance of the Celtic attack so far this season, it has been defined by injuries.
The Hoops have been hit with injuries almost constantly to the attacking area of the squad, so it is quite difficult to judge just how well many of the players have performed so far this season.
What can’t be argued though is the performance of Kyogo. He has been a revelation for the Hoops this season, and some of his displays have been reminiscent of Henrik Larsson. That is how good he has performed for the Bhoys.
The same can be said of Jota. The on-loan winger has been a real star for the Bhoys, up until a hamstring injury derailed his season. Hopefully he is back sooner than later, as he could be hugely influential in the second half of the season.
Another player that has done well for the Bhoys this season is Liel Abada. He has settled into life well for the Hoops, and has found the back of the net on a regular basis. He could well hit at least 15 goals this season, and that would be a more than good first season in Glasgow.
As for the rest of the Celtic attack, they have been decimated by injuries. The likes of Albian Ajeti and Girogos Giakoumakis have rarely featured due to injury issues.
That is a problem in particular for Giakoumakis, who hasn’t been able to make up for missing a late penalty against Livingston. Hopefully when he is fit, he gets that chance in the second half of the season.
A player that has been really missed is James Forrest. He has had at least three injury problems this season, and that has stopped him from becoming as influential as he should be for the Bhoys. That has stopped him from being a regular under Ange Postecoglou.
As for Mikey Johnston, he has been up and down for Celtic so far this season. He has had to deal with injuries, but when he has played he hasn’t always been at his best. That is perhaps to be expected when you consider how many injuries that the player has had over the last few seasons.
No other attacking player has featured for the team in the first half of the season, which is an issue which has to be addressed by the club, when it comes to squad numbers.
Hopefully Celtic will make some attacking additions to the squad in the second half of the season, that could really help the Hoops with the prospects of winning the title.
