With Celtic returning to action on Monday against Hibernian – and with fans set to be in attendance too – it is time to start looking ahead to the Hoops playing football once more.
The Hoops’ main aim of course is to win the league title, but there are some other aims and goals that the Hoops should be looking to achieve over the next four months.
We shall look at three of those goals that Celtic will hopefully achieve that will lead to success for Ange Postecoglou’s side in the second-half of the season.
Defeat Livingston for the first time this season
It is fair to say that Celtic’s record against Livingston this season can only be described as poor, with a defeat against a draw against David Martindale’s side.
For some reason the last few Celtic managers have struggled against Livingston, both Neil Lennon and Brendan Rodgers found it difficult to gets results, especially at the Tony Macaroni Arena.
The Hoops are set to travel to Livingston on league business on the 5th of March, and hopefully the team will get that win at the Tony Macaroni, which would delight a lot of fans.
Make progress in the Europa Conference League
The Europa Conference League might be the lesser of the three European football tournaments, but Celtic still have a chance to go far in the competition.
The Bhoys are in the knockout round play-offs, and will take on Bodo/Glimt, who will provide a stern test. Should the Hoops win that game, then Celtic will be in the last 16 of a European tournament for the first time since 2003.
Getting to the last 16 of a European competition would ensure that there is a lot of interest in the competition. It could actually give Celtic the possibility of reaching a European final, and that would be a massive achievement. It is a bit early to look ahead to that though, and for the moment the Hoops will only be looking ahead to the Bodo/Glimt game.
WIN A GLASGOW DERBY FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE 2019
Celtic’s recent record against Rangers in the last few years is poor. The Hoops have not defeated the Ibrox side since the League Cup Final in 2019, and in all honesty the Bhoys were fortunate to win that.
It is time for Celtic, under the management of Ange Postecoglou, to write that wrong. The Hoops are due to face Rangers on the 2nd of February, and for a number of reasons it is important that Celtic win that game.
It would be a real boost for Celtic in the title race, and would be a real feather in the cup for Postecoglou if he is able to guide the Hoops to a big win.
