Undeniably one of the highlights of Celtic’s opening league game of the season against Aberdeen was something which happened before the game kicked-off – it was the pre-match display which involved the entire stadium.

The tifo, which was organised by the Green Brigade and North Curve Celtic was more ambitious than any which had been organised before at Celtic Park, as most displays don’t feature the entire stadium, but this one did, and it was certainly very impressive.

The display was audacious and epic, and that is something which had to be done to celebrate the unfurling of the league flag at Celtic Park.

Perhaps the most impressive aspect of the display was the SPFL trophy with flowing ribbons which was replicated in the Lisbon Lions stand of Celtic Park. You can see just how impressive the display was in a video from Sky Sports Scotland’s Twitter account below.

READ CELTIC VERDICT:

It will take a long time for a tefo as good as the one against Aberdeen to be displayed at Celtic Park, it truly was an incredible achievement from the fan groups, and they deserve massive praise for pulling off something that couldn’t have been easy to do.

But the return of the defending league champions to Celtic Park had to be marked in someway, and that is what happened when the league flag was unfurled and when Callum McGregor made his way out onto the pitch with the Premiership trophy prior to kick-off.

You have to think that the fan groups will have more displays ready for the rest of the season, and there could be two occasions relatively soon where the displays could be as epic as the one which happened against Aberdeen, and that is the first derby of the season against Rangers, and Celtic’s first Champions League group stage match in five years, both of which will happen at Celtic Park in September.

The fan groups might not be able to organise a full stadium tifo on those occasions, but it wouldn’t be a surprise to see some superb pre-match displays, especially when it comes to the long-awaited return to the Champions League.

For now though, it will be hard to beat the display from the before the kick-off against Aberdeen, as it truly was a sight to behold at Celtic Park.
