It seems that Celtic’s search for a replacement for Tom Rogic is set to continue, as it has been revealed that the Hoops are not interested in signing Barcelona attacking midfielder Alex Collado.

Football Scotland journalist Mark Hendry took to Twitter to disclose that the player, who had been linked with a move to Celtic is not a player that has been discussed at Celtic Park, and that the player is set to move to another club in Spain.

The Hoops have not as yet signed a replace Rogic, who left the Hoops at the end of last season after an incredibly successful 9 years at Celtic, which saw him win 16 trophies.

READ CELTIC VERDICT:

It seemed that Collado would be the ideal replacement for Rogic, as both players were attacking midfielders, but it seems that the Spaniard was never seriously a transfer target for the Hoops.

The fact that Celtic weren’t interested in signing the player means that perhaps the Hoops don’t have any intention of buying a playmaker to replace Rogic, and that would be a mistake, as the Hoops don’t really have a natural replacement for the Australian in the side.

Whilst Celtic have got off to an ideal start in the league, winning two games out of two, there have been times in both games when the mercurial genius of Rogic would have helped the Hoops get the games won quicker than Celtic ended up doing.

That Rogic touch of magic will be especially missed in the Champions League group stages, as he would have given Celtic’s opponents plenty of problems with the qualities that he has. Rogic’s time at Celtic is over though, and the Hoops need to look to the future.

Only time will tell if the Bhoys do decide to bring in a replacement for Rogic, but at the moment it seems that is not on the agenda, and the Bhoys will look to compete on all fronts with the midfield that the club currently has.

Perhaps that will change towards the end of the transfer window, and the Hoops will look to bring in an attacker than can add that moment of magic that will take the team to the next level.

For the moment though, it looks like Celtic won’t be signing a Rogic replacement, and the hunt for a new attacking midfielder will go on for the next few weeks.
