Callum McGregor has to be considered as one of Celtic’s best players of the last 10 years. The midfielder has came through the ranks at Celtic Park to become the Hoops captain and arguably the most important player at the club.

That something that few would have foreseen happening when he made his Celtic debut back in 2014, and then Hoops manager Ronny Deila deserves credit for giving McGregor a first-team chance which he has more than taken.

So important is McGregor to the Hoops, that when Celtic needed a new captain after the exit of Scott Brown, McGregor was the only real candidate.

Since becoming Celtic captain, McGregor’s game has gone from strength to strength, as he led the Hoops to the title in his first season as the captain of the club.

Now he has the Champions League group stages to look forward to in September, as the Hoops return to the competition for the first time in five years, and McGregor will surely be relishing Celtic’s return to the biggest competition in club football.

As McGregor gets set to feature for the Hoops in the Premiership match against Kilmarnock this weekend, we shall look at the numbers behind his amazing Celtic career in a slideshow.
