In the 1970s, Kenny Dalglish was perhaps Celtic’s best player. The Hoops had many talents at the club during that decade, but Dalglish was a cut above, and was a key man for the Hoops, winning a host of trophies under the management of Jock Stein.

Dalglish was so good at Celtic that it was no real surprise when he eventually joined Liverpool, and had even more success, winning trophies galore in both England and in Europe.

Dalglish eventually went on to manage Liverpool to success, before eventually returning to Celtic as director of football when John Barnes was made manager. That didn’t work out, and Dalglish won the League Cup as Celtic caretaker manager in 2000, before leaving the club in the summer of that year.

Despite his lack of success in his brief time as Celtic caretaker manager, Dalglish still has to be considered as a football icon, both at Celtic and at Liverpool.
