Paul Lambert has to be considered as one of the best Celtic players of the 1990s and 2000s, and it seems that he has been slightly forgotten about, which is unfortunate, as he goes down in Hoops history as one of only two men – the other being Billy McNeill, to captain the club in a European final.

Lambert was a key man for the Hoops under Wim Jansen and Martin O’Neill, and he played a big role in helping Celtic get back to the top of Scottish football, and perform well in Europe as well.

The player’s partnership in midfield, firstly with Craig Burley and then with Neil Lennon, was a main reason that Celtic were able to win so many trophies when Lambert was at the club.

Lambert was one of Celtic’s best players for a very successful period at the club, and he he deserves to be remembered as that.
