Do Celtic have the best players in Scotland? The statistics would say yes, as the Hoops are currently top of the Scottish Premiership, and are defending Champions of Scotland.

Celtic have shown in the last two games just how well the Hoops can play, putting 10 goals on the board against Hibernian and Motherwell, and hopefully that will continue in the games the Hoops have to play before the World Cup break, starting against Hearts tomorrow.

Celtic have players that can provide moments of skill that is unmatched in Scotland, and one player who is certainly capable of doing that is midfielder Reo Hatate, and he showed this in the recent Premier Sports Cup victory over Motherwell.

Hatate showed some wonderful skill to hold off one opponent, then switch the ball from one foot to another to hold off another defender and trick the goalkeeper, before firing the ball into the net.

It was truly great football, and it was typical of the kind of football that Ange Postecoglou has wanted Celtic to play since he took over at the club a year ago.

Celtic had stuttered in some games recently, losing to St Mirren and not being at their best against Motherwell and St Johnstone, even though the Hoops did manage to win both of those fixtures.

However, in the two games against Hibernian in the Premiership and Motherwell in the Premier Sports Cup, Celtic have looked much more like their old selves, and that was shown in the confidence displayed by Hatate to pull off that bit of skill in the win at Fir Park.

When a team is playing well, confidence should go through the team, and that is what happened at Celtic Park against Hibernian, and at Fir Park against Motherwell.

It is always good to win when you don’t play well, but you want that to be a blip rather than the way that a team plays every week. Celtic’s performances in the last two games are the way that fans expect the Hoops to play, and even though it is unrealistic to expect that to happen in every game, the Bhoys have the players to make it happen most weeks for the club.

Hatate demonstrated that with his excellent bit of skill against Motherwell, hopefully the Hoops will be able to continue in a similar vein in the weeks to come before the break for the World Cup next month.
