Since Celtic’s formation in 1888, the Hoops have achieved a lot of success, and that has been the case since the club’s earliest days.

Before Celtic conquered Europe in the 1960s and 70s, the club dominated the domestic scene, with the Hoops winning plenty of leagues and cups under the management of Willie Maley.

The Bhoys were fortunate to have some great players in their first 50 years too, the likes of Jimmy McGrory, Patsy Gallagher and Jimmy Quinn were idols of the Hoops support in their day, the way that the likes of Jota and Kyogo are for the current Celtic support.

The first 50 years for Celtic featured success that other clubs would love to have, and it laid the foundation for the success that the Hoops have had ever since.

More should be known about the men who helped the Hoops achieve the success the team had in its first 50 years, and hopefully if Celtic ever get around to building the museum that the club have talked about building in the past, it will feature a lot about the first 50 years of the club.
