Celtic’s four domestic trebles won in a row between 2016 and 2020 was a unique achievement in World football, never mind Scottish football.

The Hoops have only won three trebles in the club’s long and distinguished history before Brendan Rodgers put the Hoops on the road to winning the first treble in 2016, before Neil Lennon completed the fourth treble in surreal scenes in December 2020 as the Hoops players and staff celebrated in an empty Hampden Park.

The fact that so much has changed at Celtic since the win which won the fourth treble means that perhaps the quadruple treble hasn’t been celebrated as much as it should have been, as it really was an incredible achievement.

It is very hard to win domestic trebles in Scottish football, even when you look at the number of trophies that the Hoops have won, Celtic have only won the treble seven times in the club’s history, and the fact that the first wasn’t until 1967, and the Hoops went 32 years between their second and third trebles, shows just how hard it is, as Celtic had a lot of good players and teams in those years.
