Celtic are only a few days away from a long-awaited return to league action, as the Hoops’ World Cup break comes to an end with a trip to Pittodrie to face Aberdeen.
Looking at Celtic’s fixtures for the second-half of the season, the Hoops will be playing a lot of games, and in the immediate future there are six league games to navigate ahead of the League Cup semi-final against Kilmarnock on the 14th of January.

The six games will provide a difficult test for the Hoops, but the goal for Ange Postecoglou’s side should be six wins out of six and 18 points. Celtic will face some tough challenges in the six games, the three away games that the Hoops will play – against Aberdeen, Hibernian and Rangers – will all be hard games.
But Celtic have shown in the first-half of the season that the team knows how to pick up results even when it is not playing well, and at difficult away venues as well, you only need to look at Celtic’s win over Hearts at Tynecastle for an example of that.
No one at Celtic will be thinking that the league is over, despite the nine-point lead at the top of the table that the Hoops currently hold, there are far too many games left to play for that type of thinking. But six wins out of six for the Bhoys would give the Hoops a double-digit lead at the top of the table, and that would provide the Bhoys with a real chance of winning a second league title in a row.
Celtic won’t be looking ahead to the future, the Hoops will only be taking one game at a time, starting with the trip to Aberdeen this weekend. Three points in that game would be the ideal start to the six game run.

The Hoops have been remarkably consistent in the first-half of the season, winning 14 league games out of 15, which is perhaps even better than the Celtic manager could have foreseen at the start of the season, which is testament to just how well the current Celtic side have played under Postecoglou.
If Celtic can make it 20 wins out of 21 league games, by picking up 18 points from the next six games, this Celtic side will be on the verge of doing something very special, and it would show just how good a manager Ange Postecoglou is, and just how good the current group of Celtic players are.
