Celtic centre-back Moritz Jenz confirmed less than 24 hours ago than he was ending his loan spell at the club early and returning to his parent club Lorient.

The 23-year-old had rarely featured for the Hoops recently, and it seems that he is going to continue his career in Germany, where clubs are reportedly interested in signing the defender.

Celtic have done the right thing by Jenz, as he had fallen down the centre-back pecking order at the club with the arrival of Yuki Kobayashi, and as he was not going to play for the Hoops any time soon, then it is the best thing for the player and the club to part ways, and Jenz can continue his career at a club where he is going to play football on a regular basis.

Unlike some other players who left the Hoops recently, such as Josip Juranovic, Jenz didn’t stay at the club long enough to make that much of an impression, although he did perform well enough when called upon to replace the injured Carl Starfelt at the start of the season, and should the Bhoys go on to win the title this season, he more than played his part.

We wish him the best of luck as he continues his career away from Celtic Park. Take a look at our slideshow featuring the numbers behind Moritz Jenz’s brief Celtic career.
