So it looks like Maik Nawrocki, Naw-rotch-kee, for those who are still figuring out how to say his name, will be a Celtic player soon.
I asked one of my Polish mates how to say his name, that’s the best way I could write it to get it across correctly!
The deal is expected to cost Celtic around £4million.
The big Polish lad is the first piece in solving our defensive conundrum.
He looks the real deal and comes highly recommended by none other than Josip Juranovic.
He may be just what we need to solve our defensive issues at the moment.
Certain people in the media are saying we’re weaker than we were last season, Nawrocki needs to the be start of the response we need to shut that kind of talk up.
It’s fair to say we have yet to really flex our financial muscle.

Meanwhile, our friendly rivals across the city are flexing theirs, albeit with the use of steroids, which we all know is completely unsustainable.
They’re also mouthing off like that guy in the gym who is pumped up on steroids.
He might look the part, he might try and act the part, but when push comes to shove, he sure as shit is not the part.
With Nawrocki’s signature, we need to start moving away from the accusation that we’re signing projects, and prove we are going to bring in first team ready signings.
It’s clear that up to this point, the players that have come in, and are due to come in from South Korea, were players sanctioned by Ange Postecoglou.
Obviously, Brendan Rodgers will have run the rule over them and ok’d their signatures.
Nawrocki, on the other hand, looks like he’s going to be the first proper Brendan Rodgers signing.

If, as reported, Nawrocki comes in for £4 million, this will have brought our spending to date in this window to around £12million.
Which means there’s still £18 million left of the reported £30 million transfer kitty.
You would have to think the priorities are a Goalkeeper and another defender.
Whether that would be another left back or another central defender is open to debate.
Greg Taylor is a decent Scottish Premiership left back, but is he good enough for Europe?
Alexandro Bernabei has a lot to prove just yet, but you cannot fault his determination to secure Celtic’s only goal against Gamba Osaka today.
Is he Champions League level though?
Not quite yet, I would think.
On the goalkeeping front, Joe Hart has been a fantastic servant to the club over the last two seasons.
You have got to admire his dedication to the Celtic cause, and also the voice that he has been in the dressing room as a senior pro.
However, he is error prone, it doesn’t happen very often, but when it does, it can be spectacular in it’s calamity.
We saw it last season against RB Leipzig and again against Yokohama F Marinos on Wednesday.
I’ll put it this way, right now, would you be 100% confident starting a Champions League campaign with Hart as your no. 1 keeper?
I’m not so sure I would be, so that’s why I think we need to secure the signature of an established and experienced keeper before the current transfer window shuts.
No disrespect to Joe Hart, but I think he has come as far as he can between the sticks for Celtic.

He isn’t getting any younger either.
Benjamin Siegrist hasn’t shown us anything since his arrival last season, so to me, he isn’t really an option.
I’m sure Brendan Rodgers has identified exactly what he wants in order for us to be ready to mount a challenge in Europe this season.
If he hasn’t or he doesn’t get what he wants, then all this talk about making inroads in Europe will have been exactly that, just talk.
Celtic fans are tired of of their club being whipping boys in European competition.
We now have an opportunity to change all of that.
We also need to shut our noisy neighbours up.
I believe we will and I believe Maik Nawrocki is the first of these kinds of signings.
The question is, will there be a marquee signing?
Only time will tell, but the next few weeks are crucial.
When we rock up to Ibrox on the 3rd of September, we need to lay down a marker for the season ahead.
The defence we have currently will not cut it.
So that’s what needs to change.
It looks like its just begun to….
A marquee signing lots of money +we are playing in the spl plastic pitches refs that wont protect you teams that park the bus and get applaused for it especailly they take two points off celtic not paranoid refs allow the most blatant time waisting when a yellow card stops it then you have clubs that would let there stadiums half full rather than have an away support tv money allows that but they still loss money so getting a marquee not on raises the wage ceiling one player earning far more than the rest leave the marquee signings to the arab league
I think there will still be a bit of movement in and out of the club, with another 3 after Nowocki coming in.However I think 6 or 7 could go other way, including a first team player,ie O Riley or Abada.
Don’t ask me why but I think Hatate could still leave before the season starts, I’ve had a bad feeling about that since the end of last season. I hope I’m wrong but why else has he not been offered a new contract like Kyogo, Maeda and CalMac have if we’re serious about competing in Europe we need to tie down our best players.
Like to see a creative central midfielder brought in. Sick and tired of project players. Need the finished article. Have to factor in the £18m recieved for Jota. Would to see a player Similiar to Giakamakos. Have a feeling may work out so well this for Rodgers. Half of the Celtic supporters are waiting for him to get of to apoor start. He’s starting from a for stronger position than Ange did. Am sure he’ll have his excuses
