I know I’ve said this many times before, but I’ll never tire of it, I don’t think Hugh Keevins has ever had an original thought in his journalistic career.
His article in today’s Record reads like he is just living off the scraps of the bloggers and podcasters.
Because what he’s discussing this morning is what we’ve been discussing for weeks now.
It’s exactly what I was discussing in my article yesterday, and to me, it appears as if all he’s done is to have found something that he knows is irritating Celtic fans at this moment in time.

We’re all acutely aware of the fact that Brendan Rodgers needs to bring in defensive reinforcements.
We’re all well aware that Joe Hart’s “best days are behind him” and that Carl Starfelt is “on the iffy side” as a central defender.
It’s as if Keevins has found a particular boil which is irritating us, and he wants to poke it and prod it even more to see what kind of reaction he gets.
Doubtless, Celtic fans are annoyed at the slow pace of the current transfer window.
Indeed, some are beginning to worry that the old patterns are starting to emerge since Postecoglou’s departure and that this is once again turning into the Pistol Pete show.
This is further compounded by the below statement from Keevins in his article:
Rodgers’ observations on spending money at Celtic were revealing. He actually said the notion of a transfer “War chest” made him laugh. “The club has a model and I’ll work within that,” he said. Mission statements like that are ultimately influenced by results.
Firstly, does he actually think that Brendan Rodgers would disclose what his transfer plans are to the SMSM?
Secondly, if Brendan Rodgers felt he was coming back into the exact same regime he walked away from, does anyone think or imagine he’d have come next or near the job?

Of course, in an outburst of unnerving predictability, Keevins couldn’t help himself when it came to referencing Rodgers’ previous tenure, he just had to mention Lincoln Red Imps.
He had to mention in it conjunction with the result against Yokohama F Marinos, which he labelled as an “embarrassment in the short term, but inconsequential in the long term.”
I’m not sure if anybody was embarrassed Hugh, we were playing against a side mid way through their current season, and we used an entirely different eleven in the second half.
It was a friendly, not a Champions League qualifier, so I fail to see what relevance it had to the Lincoln Red Imps result.
To me, Keevins just used the Yokohama result to bring up the Lincoln Red Imps debacle.
Because that’s how petty he is.
Its also ironic, that just as I predicted in my parody article on Friday, Keevins had to start harping on about the transfer activity over Ibrox way with the below statement:
It wouldn’t be difficult to form the impression Rangers are making a heavily bankrolled tilt at wrenching the league championship trophy from Celtic’s grasp. Celtic’s response needs to be similarly driven.
Heavily bankrolled?
The Ibrox side have spent thus far, so we’re led to believe, £7.3million on Cyriel Dessers and Sam Lammers.
That’s it.
I wouldn’t class that as heavily bankrolled spending.
When Celtic have completed the signings of Kwon Hyeok-kyu, Yang Hyun-jun and Maik Nawrocki, the club will have spent almost £13million at that point.

That’s almost double what the “heavily bankrolled” Ibrox side have spent to date, in addition to their free transfers, of course.
And anybody who thinks we’ll be finished there, needs to think again.
I have no doubt Rodgers has the players he requires to strengthen the squad earmarked.
Nawrocki, as I stated last night, is the beginning of the Rodgers signings.
Beginning being the operative word.
Finally, of course, Keevins couldn’t resist mentioning Celtic finishing second to the Ibrox side with this gem of a statement:
Brendan is not normally given to silence when he feels there is something to be said. It’s not as if he needs to be wary of treading on anyone’s toes. But it’s the manager’s reputation that’s now on the line. It won’t benefit from finishing second to Rangers in a championship he started with a Treble-winning squad from the season before. I can’t help but feel that mask of acceptability will slip to reveal a sterner expression unless clearly visible areas of vulnerability in his squad are addressed.
Oooooh Hugh, you’ve got us worried now.
Really worried.
It’s funny when I write parodies about this man how uncannily I accurate I am in what I’m saying.
He’s starting with the predictions already.
And we all know how that goes, don’t we?
His efforts to inject uncertainty into our fanbase will always fail.
Simply because his predictions never, ever, come true.
Keep it up Hugh.
The daily Record and Keevins have a lot in common ! The one that stands out for me is that individually and as a team they are a figure of fun . The typist is obviously under instructions every week from his chief to be as ridiculous as possible in his column … Reverse psychology : gets them talking and that means clicks and money . Isn’t it sad that Keevins will only be remembered for one word throughout his long ,boring ,inept career ?’Hotline!’
The one thing Celtic fans should be hoping for at the start of every season is the usual…Keevans predicted, sevco wins pre-season championship. Followed by his wishful thinking sevco league stroll.
It’s all Celtics late winners that’s sent him over the ledge.
I have no idea why everyone gives this guy oxygen. Simply ignore him, ignore his comments and he will disappear. If he is not worth listening to then don’t listen. The one thing he will hate more than anything is being ignored. Do this and you will really upset him, but don’t be sucked into giving him relevance. He obviously has you all wound up.
Rangers have signed a bunch of nonentities Butland apart. Players who are not even household names in their own households. Why should Celtic abandon a successful business model which has served us well financially in recent years?
Keevins is obviously not the sharpest tool in the shed, his obvious hatred of us and his overall arrogance is the reason articles like this get right up our noses. The MMS in this country is a disgrace, you just need to look at the amount of Ibrox cheerleaders at the national broadcaster to see the way the land lies. Keeping on winning is the best way to get to them.
The only threat to Celtics dominance in Scotland will come from our own board failing to take on the cheating from the officials on the pitch and in the var room . Mark my words this system of allowing the var officials to make ridiculous decisions to aid the new club in every game they play is the only threat to Celtic. There hadn’t been a mention of var in the close season that’s the real question needs to be answered.
Absolutely bang on mate.
Celtic are still the team to beat. We have lost Jota, but when he was injured last season and out the team we were still winning.
Over at castle grey scull they are signing most of their players on free transfers.
The only player anyone recognises is Balogen and he will not have the hoops shaking in their boots !!!
Let the hun columists print their rubbish, time will tell.
I expect Celtic to now sign a couple of defenders before the season starts and that will set us up lovely for another tilt at a treble.
The worst thing is his family dre all Tim’s he is a wind up merchant and you all fall for it mo like don’t post if we font take scything he say then he is nothing
As always Shug is talking mince his comments should be laughed at not in his history of predictions has he been correct, his tiresome wee voice is just an irrelevant irritating non entertaining droll, that no one pays any attention too retire Mr keevins. Your old news
Hugh Kevin is just a wee clown who doesn’t know his ass from his elbow.
