Keith Jackson was wetting himself yesterday at the prospect of the Ibrox side signing Danilo from Feyenoord.
The SMSM are in a giddy state at the thoughts of the Ibrox splashing out £6million for the Brazilian striker.
Give it a couple of days and you’ll probably see a headline like this:
R%£#@*s flex their financial muscle to match Celtic’s spending with Danilo signing

The media was all about this transfer yesterday, with the deal all but done.
Reports say that Danilo will earn £40k a week at Ibrox.
If this transfer happens and if this is true, the Ibrox side will then have three players earning over £40k per week.
Cantwell and Butland are the other two players.
Danilo’s signature will also mean that this will take their spending to almost £13million as well.
One wonders why UEFA are not banging on the door wanting to know how they can sustain this kind of spending?
There will also be the “undisclosed fee” for Jose Cifuentes.
Does anybody get the feeling that an air of desperation is starting to descend on Ibrox?

One similar to that which descended around in the early 2000’s in the days of the old club?
They seem desperate to match or outspend us in terms of player purchases.
Not only that, but then you’ve got to ask where this level of finance is coming from all of a sudden?
This is a club that once again reported a running loss in their most recent set of accounts.
A running loss that was incurred during a run to a European final, and record sales of players during and after the 2021/22 season.
Or is the Danilo transfer all really pie in the sky?
Whether it is, or it isn’t, this level of transfer and wage spending in order to keep up with their closest rivals, cannot be sustainable.
Yesterday, news came in that they will face either Servette of Switzerland or Genk of Belgium in the Champions League qualifiers.
Both clubs also finished second in their respective leagues, but then you would have to say the standard of the Belgian and Swiss leagues is a tad higher than that of the Scottish Premiership.
If the Ibrox club is once again, as in 2011, putting all of their eggs in the Champions League basket in the hopes it will finance the season ahead, it’s a high risk strategy.
Especially if UEFA are sniffing around when it comes to sustainability.

Our inept media will of course, just as before, turn a blind eye to all of this.
Instead, they will trumpet the signature of Danilo as a major coup for the Ibrox side and wax lyrical about the extent of his earnings.
A functioning 3rd estate might actually posit the question as to where the finance for a deal such as this is coming from?
Not only the £6million transfer fee, but also the wages of close to £2million per annum?
How does a loss making club generate finance like this for deals like that?
Meanwhile, Celtic are only warming up when it comes to transfer spending.
Unlike our rivals, we are safe in the knowledge that we have already qualified for the Champions League.
The finance associated with that is as good as banked.
We do not have to gamble or take risks on that basis.

I stated recently that the signing of Maik Nawrocki, who we now know was seen at Lennoxtown yesterday, was the first real Brendan Rodgers signing.
Does anybody believe that Nawrocki will be his one and only signing of the transfer window?
Think again.
Celtic can and will spend bigger.
The media is losing the run of itself with predictions of a glorious season ahead for the Ibrox side.
They cannot help themselves.
Celtic, they say, are weaker than last season and the Ibrox side is stronger.
If they sign Danilo in addition to Sam Lammers for striking options, combined, both players have scored a total of 34 goals in the last three seasons.
Our main striker scored that in one season for Celtic.

The media thinks we are weaker due to losing Felipe Jota to Al-Ittihad, yet they have paid no attention to the players we have signed since his departure.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but Celtic is the club renowned for bringing in unknown entities and turning them into top class talents, the Ibrox side is not.
Jota is but one example of this model.
Does the SMSM think we have not scouted, studied and researched the players we’ve recruited with that sort of development in mind?
Yet, as they do during every close season, they are predicting an Ibrox clean sweep.
As always, it will come crashing down around their ears.
If the Ibrox club do not qualify for the Champions League, then we’ll begin to see the real story emerge from over there.
Remember, Beale has no European experience as a manager, unlike his predecessor.

Celtic are not weaker than them.
We are stronger in every aspect.
We have more money, better players, a bigger stadium, and a top class manager with years of top level experience behind him.
Yet we are deemed by the SMSM to be weaker.
It’s actually laughable when you break it down.
I guess they have to keep up the hopes of their readership.
It’s the hope that kills them, you know?
But the truth is the one thing they can never face.
If they didn’t face it in 2012, they sure as hell won’t face it now.
It was ever thus.

If Mr Danilo is such a ‘game changer’ player , why is there little or virtually no interest from other Dutch clubs and big European sides fighting for his signature ? I would have thunk that they would have been lining up around the streets of Amsterdam ,offering him all he wanted in order to get his John Henry on a contract paper ? Silly old me !
Think you are getting worried Eric with what you are writing. Most Celtic fans are two faced hypocrites regards Brenda Rogered so lets wait and see shall we.
U really are a deluded inbred moron, how many seasons will u morons believe the pre season hype&then go&shit it in the league, you’re pathetic&u will shit it again🧟♂️🧟♂️
I’m a tim but c’mon to fuck. ‘Read Celtic’ and all you do is post about R*ngers, who gives a fuck, they’re no even worth mentioning, our teams amazing so why even bother entertaining the monkeys.
It’s been about two months since I dedicated an article to them. So they must be the only ones you read then?
Billy Boy, you’re an idiot Celtic are streets ahead of your club no matter who your club buy. Eric’s asking a legitimate question where’s the money coming from to buy a £6million player when you’ve got no money? You know it, we know it, the whole world knows it, so where’s the money coming from? If you get liquidated again who are you going to blame this time? You claim that the other clubs demoted your club last time, which is an outright lie as you were liquidated and that’s irrefutable. Your support can’t accept the truth though you’ve got problems with accepting facts, if you’re still the same club as you claim why did you have to reapply for membership of the SPFL surely your old membership would’ve changed hands, oh that’s right you got liquidated and ceased to exist, so button it ya bellend.
Wait until the end of the season then do your usual bragging but never forget you will never attain what Rangers history says about the famous Gers. Also dont forget what money you tims will have to pay out in compensation because of all your perverts. Still more trials to go ahead is there not ?
Torky56 Rangers are not a new club unlike Celtic LOL how many times have Celtic had to change company management ? Yes Rangers got relegated down but learn true facts before your brainwashed mind speaks Bull excrement. You re ckon Rangers are broke LOL but how much money is the pervert club having to spend out in compensation to the children abused by your club and employees ?
Absolutely nothing will be paid out have they been found guilty of anything
Absolutely Correct in your comments Dave.
John, The reason Celtic FC Have not paid out anything is that the cases have not came to court yet. Wait until it does and it will cost you millions in compensation. There is a big Tsunami of hurt coming Celtics way.
FFS really that’s where you go when talking about transfers you truly are a bunch of sad inbreeds who are literally hiding your head in the sand to the state of your club and it’s financial stability
Think its Celtic FC Thats burying its head in the sand Pete. Have denied all the charges against you for decades which is truly disgraceful. Celtics day is coming Pete no doubt about it. When they are found guilty they should be removed from Scottish football with immediate effect. Paedophillia cannot and will not be tolerated at any level of society
There are morons and halfwits aplenty in amongst the low life that crawl through Ipox but even you don’t come up to that standard.
Demented , delusional and living in the hope that accusations of child abuse elsewhere will somehow make your club winners.
“Those in glass houses……” as they say.
A sectarian, racist, corrupt, tax dodging club is nothing to be proud of and when you die again, which you will, then Scottish football will be well rid of that shame
A victim of sexual abuse at lbrox had a meeting, present was Walter Smith and Graeme souness, whom both assured the victim that his allegations would be reported to the police.both souness and Smith then proceeded to sweep these serious allegations under the carpet and did absolutely nothing.
Hey Derek,
Your comments say more about you than it does about me. Bet you used to send letters into Jim,ll Fix it ya reprobate.
