Yesterday, Todd Cantwell started an argument he cannot win by poking the hornets nest that is ex-Celt Chris Sutton.

It looks like he’s going to regret calling Chris Sutton an “attention seeker”.
This particular statement in yesterday’s Sun, along with many others, has left Cantwell wide open for ridicule from Sutton:
For me it’s like why are you so interested in Todd Cantwell? Why are you so interested in R*****s? You played for Celtic – fantastic. Support Celtic. Tweet about Celtic every day, you love them, that’s fine!
In case Cantwell didn’t notice, Sutton is a journalist and a pundit in Scottish football.
He works for Sky Sports, and writes for the Daily Record.
By definition, his job is to speak about the football clubs in Scotland.
It just so happens that Celtic and the Ibrox side are the two biggest sides in Scotland, therefore, the most talked about.
It’s not that Sutton is interested in the Ibrox side, he just enjoys talking about them, and yes, ridiculing them.

He is one of the only few journalists and pundits out there who actually tells it like it is when it comes to that club.
He’s not afraid of the repercussions or the backlash, unlike so many others.
There is no love lost there.
This stems back to the final day of the season in May 2003, and a now infamous interview in the aftermath of a Rangers 1872 win over Dunfermline Athletic.
A win that clinched the title for them on goal difference.
Sutton knew that a Jimmy Calderwood managed Athletic side had rolled over to allow Rangers 1872 to snatch the title.

Calderwood was lifelong fan of the Ibrox club, and rumours circulated that he and his players had accepted a pay-off to roll over for Alex McLeish’s side.
Chris Sutton has been bitter about that whole affair ever since, and by default, is not afraid to call out the Ibrox club, including Todd Cantwell, whenever he feels like it.
It’s just a shame there are very few other journalists and pundits out there who will do the same.
Michael Stewart is the only other who has is not afraid to speak his mind.
Not content with mouthing off about Sutton yesterday, Cantwell went one further and stated his ambition to play for England and to return to the EPL.
If he thought he was giving Sutton ammunition by lashing out at him, well, these revelations will give him an absolute field day.
Here is just a flavour of some of the delusional statements from Cantwell in the Sun yesterday evening:
I spent nearly two to three months in the U23 set up, which after what I had achieved at Norwich was barbaric and I felt like I had all my respect and achievements stripped away and I was a bad egg, it was crazy.
That statement there speaks volumes.
The language alone is that of someone who is completely delusional and cannot accept any responsibility for their own actions.
Barbaric?
Bad Egg?
Daniel Farke, the then Norwich boss, is a German coach.
With Germans, and believe me I know as I’ve worked with them, everything is very black and white.
There is no in between.
If you’re not doing your job, you will know about it, in no uncertain terms.
Farke thought Cantwell was a “Bad Egg” for a reason.

He was moved to the under-23 set up, for a reason.
Cantwell says it reduced him to tears:
I was just in tears saying I’m going to quit, I’ve got enough money, quit football completely. I’m good, this is draining me and I need to be here for my family and they don’t need to worry about me.
The melodrama in that statement alone sums up the kind of character Cantwell is.
A melodramatic drama queen.
Who clearly loves the sound of his own voice, and is deeply invested in the belief that he is right, and everyone else in the world is wrong.
Put simply, Cantwell talks the talk, but he does not walk the walk.
He consistently mouths off about how good he is, but backs it up with nothing.

He was marked absent in every game that mattered for the Ibrox side last season, bar the one that didn’t, of course.
In the most recent tie between Celtic and the Ibrox side on September 3rd last, a hoops side decimated with injuries, still conspired to make a fool out of Cantwell.
He was once again marked absent.
Yet you’ve got to admire Cantwell’s delusional belief in himself, summed up by this statement:
I want to be an England player, I want to play for the national side. Right now, I want to play for Rangers and win some trophies. I have a big desire to get back into the Premier League, a league that I really enjoyed playing in.
That’s kind of like me saying I want to win the Lotto.
I don’t have much chance of that, but I’d love to win it.
Cantwell is no where near being an international player.
He may win trophies at Ibrox, perhaps a League cup this season, but in England, that means nothing.
And he has just told the Ibrox support he wants to use their club as a stepping stone to Premier League riches and the England national team.
He loves to talk, and big himself up.
Thus far, he has delivered very little to back up that talk.
Chris Sutton, for one, will have a field day with that.
I’ll leave you with this Golden Nugget:
I believe in myself, I know what ability I’ve got. The words are almost like a waste, I need to action it and to show people what I’m about.
Yes Todd, they are a complete waste.
That action you’re talking about?
We’ve yet to see it.
Oh, what fun Chris Sutton will have with you after this.
You have no idea what’s ahead of you…
Who is Todd Cantwell?
Bum fluff can’t play well is biggest clown in football
The bhoy cantwell ( cantplay more like) i said when he arrived that bhoy will not like the scottish game . We dont do park diva’s son let your boots talk
Highlight of his career in Scotland will be his refusal to allow a fellow player a drink of water.
Cantwell slept with a footballer, mind you I heard they had a good night together. This guy wouldn’t get in most people’s subbuteo sides, he’s a gift for a wind-up merchant like big Sutton and he’s shown nothing to merit any credit since he signed. You said he’s delusional Eric but his own support suffer that same delusion as we all know and some of them on social media had him as a £100 million player who was going to take the Champions League by storm and run the show as he was the best midfielder in Europe, I wonder how that worked out? He’s in the perfect place to get his overinflated ego massaged but he’s produced nothing of substance to have an ego like that in the first place. He’s the new Ryan Kent comes in with a fanfare of how brilliant he is but left by the back door after five years of producing nothing and Tik Tok Todd is going the same way. He’s a legend in his own mind and that’s the only place the legend will stay because he’s clearly touched in the brain department, a hard of thinking moron like the supporters of the club he plays for, he’ll achieve nothing in the game if or until he allows himself a reality check which clearly isn’t coming soon. He’s the epitome of a young player getting into a first team early and thinking that’s him made it, instead he should’ve been thinking this is the beginning and I’ve got to work hard every training session every game to stay in the team. Young players nowadays don’t have to do what the pro’s of my era done like cleaning the terraces or the senior pros boots or putting kits out and get bled into teams the hard way, it’s all given to them on a plate these days and the game’s worse off because of that as it breeds guy’s like Todd’s delusion and that’s why he’ll amount to nothing in the game.
Have you noticed they seem to be getting their desires to leave the Rangers in early ? First it was wee Paris pizza person – Raskin , and now it is the true attention seeker himself – Cantwell ! Maybe Cantwell’s hair band is too tight or something , or maybe it’s the Jim White style of moustache he is desperate to try and grow that clouds his judgement and opinions ? That type of abject failure would depress anyone !
Eric,
Chris Sutton is an out and out hypocrite.
Praised Cantwell to the heavens when he played for Norwich. The minute he signs for the famous Glasgow Rangers it is all negative.
