They’re “coming for us”, Ibrox side draw level with Celtic as the boasts start…

So, finally, they’re level with us.

It seems the Ibrox side made much harder work of Ross County on Wednesday night than we did a few weeks ago.

Either way, they’re level with us now, and they have in fact won more games than us up to this point.

We’ve won 19, they’ve won 20.

They’re second by virtue of the 4 losses they’ve had, in comparison to our 2.

So, are now we now at a point where the first one to blink will fall behind?

Well, the battle cries are being issued, there’s even talk about helicopters, they’re coming to get us.

We may as well just hand it to them now, and save ourselves the bother and ignominy of them taking it from us.

To be fair to Philippe Clement, he’s keeping his cards very close to his chest.

He won’t give in to the hype.

However the media and all of the Ibrox lackies just can’t help themselves, can they?

Nothing has been won at this stage, yet the arrogance is starting to creep in.

They can’t help themselves.

Everybody is focusing on Celtic’s weaknesses, how Celtic are not the same side they were, hell, Neil McCann reckons the Ibrox supporters are showing great patience.

They’re cool, calm, and collected.

Unlike the Celtic fans, who are a bag of nerves.

Well, I guess we’re going to see who’s really got the nerves of steel from here on out, aren’t we?

Like it or not, we have a serious title race here.

The Ibrox side, apparently, are the side with all the momentum.

Since we played them on the December 30th of last year, we’ve dropped just 2 points.

They, on the other hand, dropped 3 to us.

At first glance, our form looks pretty good, it’s the on-field performances that have been of concern.

This has stemmed from the performance against Ross County, and what has followed since then.

Last Sunday, we looked better against St. Mirren, but we weren’t anywhere near our best.

It’s clear that our starting 11 has never really taken shape since this season began.

There has been too much disruption caused by constant injuries to key players.

What we now need, is all these key players coming back to full fitness for the title run in.

If Celtic are to retain this title, then they need to be at peak strength when they visit Ibrox in April.

The imminent return of Greg Taylor, Cameron Carter-Vickers, and Reo Hatate is critical in this race.

And for that to happen, the aforementioned players would also need to be on top form by then.

But here’s the thing, we thought Celtic were starting to hit their peak after the game against the Ibrox side in December, but that faded away once again.

Whether the winter break killed the momentum, or complacency started to creep in once again, it’s hard to know.

Either way, if this squad is going to peak, it’s going to need to happen in the coming weeks.

Even yesterday evening, Chris Sutton was singing the Ibrox side’s praises in the Record.

However, with Sutton, it’s hard to know whether that’s just mind games, or him being serious.

You never can tell.

But as a Celtic fan, I will admit this much, Clement is the first Ibrox manager we’ve come up against in their short existence who actually seems to know what he’s doing.

He does his talking on the field of play, and whether we like it or not, he needs to be taken seriously.

Take no notice of the Ibrox loving wittering in the media, it’s the same as it ever was.

Although, they can hardly contain themselves at the moment, they really are starting to gizz in their pants at the prospect of an Ibrox title win.

Ibrox mouthpiece, Minny “I never played for Celtic at all” Keller, was wetting himself at the prospect of his beloved Ibrox heroes going top of the table on Wednesday night.

Just a shame that didn’t happen though, isn’t it?

Here’s what he had to say:

To be honest, I already think the momentum has shifted to the blue side of Glasgow since Philippe Clement has come in. But going top of the league tonight – if they can – would be a massive boost for them. You’d much rather see yourself sitting top than sitting second.

I suppose you would, but sadly for Minny, that didn’t happen.

They’re still sitting in second.

He can always enter Scotland’s ugliest ex-footballer to make up for it, he’s had the momentum in that particular competition for a long time.

I heard Jozo Simunovic, since retiring from football, is now making a living out of hawking pictures of his world class tackle on Minny back in 2017.

In a recent interview he said:

I’ll never forget the look on his face, while he hung suspended upside down there for a split second in front of me, it was like Gothmog was about to get his head buried in the Ibrox turf and bleed blue all over the place!

I digress, sadly for Minny, it wasn’t to be on Wednesday night.

So, we’ll just have to wait till the weekend to see what the next twist in this most gripping of title races will be.

Personally, I think Derek “I turned down the R****** job” McInnes is due a damn good thrashing at Celtic Park on Saturday.

For me, nothing else will do.

He thinks he has the measure of us, with his hammer throwing, footballer maiming, style of play.

I hope Kyogo and Adam Idah teach them a lesson in goalscoring, and we net at least 5 against them.

That would please me no end.

Goal difference is crucial now, so we need to rack them up.

And what better time to do that than on Saturday.

The 12 year old’s then head to McDiarmid park to face Craig “I used to be a football manager years ago” Levein’s St. Johnstone on Sunday.

I’m sure Minny “I never played for Celtic, you imagined it” Keller will expect them to score 10 there and go top on goal difference.
