It has unfortunately turned into a tough season for Celtic fans, and manager Brendan Rodgers’ second spell at Parkhead has certainly not gone the way that many had hoped it would after he replaced prior gaffer Ange Postecoglou.
Form under Rodgers has been a bit slippy so far during the 2023/24 domestic Scottish campaign, most certainly our fluctuating performance levels have been a major issue of concern. At one point this year, as fans will know, we were seven points clear at the top of the table and despite our issues, we looked very much in charge to secure another title, but despite the Adam Idah inspired recent 3-1 victory over Motherwell, we continue to trail top spot by two points now.

He has a massive part to play this year, despite a less than effective opening 45 minutes.
It looked like it might be another one of those days as well based on a very poor first half that saw the hosts take the lead with only a couple of minutes to play. The second half however, was a completely different story as Adam Idah had us back on level terms within six minutes, but despite far better control of the match, we needed a late stoppage show to secure all three points. Despite the concerns being aired in the fan base, Rodgers remains incredibly bullish about that fact that he will soon see the players begin to consistently show the clear improvement needed to get ourselves back on track and restore our advantage.
Some may be buoyed by his confidence, others will be thinking there are only eleven games left and that he is putting a hell of a lot of confidence in two wins in particular to make the telling points difference.
“Even if we draw the game today, four points isn’t a lot in my experience. Four points would have been nothing. But it was important for us to get the win, psychologically, and for our football. It was another game to convince that when we play how we can play then the goals and creativity will be there.”
Few doubt Celtic’s talent when we are at our best, nobody really needs to be convinced of that but there is also no denying that we are not often at our best now, and that is the issue.
With so much being written about us in the press and the media, Rodgers is insistent that this group will ‘write our own story’ before the close of the campaign.
Plenty will dearly love that to happen, and for it to be the right story that gets written.
