Celtic fans beware, if ever there was an article written that is a total contradiction of reality, this latest “headline spinner” from Football Insider has to be it.
Published yesterday, the article has the most deceptive headline you could possibly read.
This really is the ultimate in clickbait garbage.
How anybody clicked publish on this article with a straight face is beyond me.
As usual, it’s pinned as an exclusive, with resident “football expert” Alan Hutton named as the author.
The irony of all of this, is that the article, which says Celtic are facing a “nightmare scenario” was published the morning after the Ibrox side were left facing a real nightmare scenario.
You know?
The scenario where they clawed themselves to the top of the table, and then blew it all in the space of 10 days, leaving Celtic 3 points clear at the pinnacle instead.

Culminating in Wednesday’s 0-0 draw away to Dundee.
Which handed a serious advantage to Celtic.
I know I should really ignore these articles, but I look at them simply because I want to see how unrelated the headline is to the article itself.
This one couldn’t be any more unrelated to it’s headline.
I recently wrote an article on the deceptive way many websites use bullshit headlines to draw readers in.
By deceiving you into believing it to be an “exclusive”, or that they have some story nobody else has.
In reality, they never have an exclusive, and the majority of their stories are regurgitated stories that you’ve probably already read 3 or 4 times that same day.
But I have to hand it to Football Insider.
They definitely have exclusivity when it comes to making up complete and utter bollocks stories about Celtic and the Ibrox side.

The article I highlighted at the outset of this piece has to be read to be believed.
Actually, I’ll correct myself, you’ll have to read it in order to believe how bad it actually is.
Now, I’m going to give them the benefit of the doubt on this one.
I’m going to say that Alan Hutton gave his “expert opinion” before the result of the Dundee game.
It’s the only way the contents of the article could possibly be plausible.
Otherwise it makes no rational sense whatsoever.
Here’s the opening paragraph:
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Gers and Aston Villa defender Alan Hutton claimed that the two remaining undecided competitions in Scottish football are the “biggest” and if either O** F*** side manages to clinch them both, they would have had the better season.
I can only assume the reason Alan Hutton “speaks exclusively” to Football Insider is because no other reputable website would publish this garbage?

Stating something that is blatantly obvious isn’t a claim either.
You don’t have to be a genius to know that the Scottish League title and the Scottish Cup are the “biggest” competitions, do you?
But the tour de force here, the icing on the cake, is the statement, if either O** F*** side manages to clinch them both, they would have had the better season.
Really?
Go figure.
Now, I never thought winning those competitions could define a team’s season.
That just never would have crossed my mind.
I know, I know, after reading that paragraph, I should’ve just said F£$% this, and X’d out of the article.
But I was intrigued.
Not intrigued because I thought I’d find something awe inspiring in it, intrigued because part of me wanted to see how much worse it could get.
I wasn’t disappointed.
It gets better.
Or worse.
Depending on your point of view.
Have a look at this:
Before the Belgian’s (Clement’s) arrival at Ibrox, many fans and pundits tipped Brendan Rodgers’ side to claim another domestic treble, but their neighbours’ “remarkable” resurgence has already scuppered that dream.
Remarkable resurgence??
Scuppered that dream?
For us Celtic fans?
Let’s define that resurgence then.
Clement’s record in the league is identical to that of serial spoofer, Michael Beale.

Now, that’s some resurgence, isn’t it?
Yes, us Celtic fan’s dreams have been well and truly scuppered.
No doubt about it.
Hutton’s next statement makes me ask myself if he really said this.
Could he really be this thick?
If Celtic win the league and the cup, then they would have had a better season than Rangers, they’re the two biggest competitions out of the three – even if Rangers have had a good season.
The turnaround that Rangers have had since Clement has come in has been remarkable, so if Celtic still go on and win the league, they will see that as a really good season.
Talk about stating the blindingly obvious.
This is in fact a double whammy of garbage, and a repeat of what the opening paragraph stated.
But seriously, where is the intelligent “exclusive” analysis from a “football expert” in that statement?
And then, in all it’s “exclusive” glory, the “remarkable development” is revealed!
The “nightmare” scenario is revealed in all it’s gory detail:
The flip side to that is that if Rangers do go on to win both, it would be a nightmare for Celtic. They’ve been so used to winning trophies every year, so it will be a difficult one to take. But there’s still a lot to play for and the trophies could still be anybody’s.
And there you have it.
Expert, exclusive, intelligent, remarkable analysis.
It will be a nightmare for Celtic if the Ibrox side win the treble.
That, indeed, is a remarkable development, isn’t it?
About as remarkable as a wet fart.
Unfortunately for Alan Hutton, the real nightmare developing here is the same recurring one his favourite side seems to experience around this time every season.
The reality that his team have woken up from the dream that they are some kind of world beaters.
And walked back into the nightmare that they are, and always will be, bottle merchants.
But hey, you got the exclusive on it from Alan Hutton, didn’t you?
A delusional exclusive.
But an exclusive nonetheless.
Football Insider, the best website out there for up to the minute exclusives, and expert punditry.
I guess I should just pack it in.
Being up against competition like this, I’m clearly wasting my time.
Oh well….

Bang on. I really dnt think Hutton wrote this, he is not that stupid. That site used to really annoy me but now when I need a laugh I read a few lines, that’s all it takes for me to be buckling myself. I personally think all the writers are ONE guy locked in his mummy’s basement, should get out more 🤣
And there we have it right there ! The complete embarrassment that is the SMSM . Alan Hutton is regarded as a ” writer “!If anyone was in any doubt as to the quality of tabloid ‘sports journalism ‘ in Scawlin’, the evidence and proof is absolutely irrefutable in its condemnation ! Question : Mr Hutton ,what do you base your substantial allegation on ? Hutton : Big Billy down the pub told me ! Oh that’s great news …let’s publish that juicy ‘exclusive’ ! Kerrrching ……
Alan Mutton🤣🤣
I read that yesterday, for the life of me I really couldnt understand what the “remarkable news” was? Then I remembered this site “employs” Hutton and indeed MacAvennie as football experts, so I really shouldn’t have bothered !!!
Hutton let’s face it made a decent living out of playing football but cast your mind back when he used to get interviewed after games mmmmmmm yes not the brightest lad so does it surprise you that he writes crap on a weekly basis?
As unremarkable as a wet fart? How often are you doing wet farts that they have become unremarkable!? Lol. Thanks for the heads up, I’ll block Football Insider from article collector HH
Well, you see Mark, wet farts are not something anyone remarks on, as in most cases, one tries to skulk away and hide the fact they ever happened. Therefore they are unremarkable to the general public, but embarrassingly remarkable to their victim. Kind of like Alan Hutton’s comments.
In my time I have learned to ignore comments made by so-called experts in the football world. The list is endless, reams of paper can be filled with names that are too stupid to be validated and what makes them even more stupid is the self-belief they seem to derive from a misguided notion that they have a following.
Sub-editors reach into the toolbox to see what they might find and, “Oh, look what I’ve found! It’s a rawlplug, I’ll keep this, it might come in handy.” And so it does in the shape of Alan Hutton.
Yes, Eric, you are correct, it’s the cookie headline setting, no substance, printed to suit the moron brigade’s appetite for offal stew- their favourite dish. I say let them have it, they are welcome ! Must go and put the bin out…
Read Celtic, it says at the top of the page.
Sixteen articles in the last two weeks from wee Eck. Of the sixteen, seven of those reference Ibrox in the title, along with sob stories about Souness, Philippe Clement, Tavernier, Joey Barton and Beaton.
Seems that Eric is just as culpable in his obsession with ‘them’ as the other SMSM outlets which he claims we really should ignore.
Here’s an idea, maybe practice what you preach, focus on Celtic stories and drop your slavish obsession which only serves to keep the other mob relevant.
Maybe write about our own form, our chances of taking 12 points from the other four clubs in the top half, our goalkeeper targets for the summer, our need for a striker….you know the sort of stuff.
If you want us to Read Celtic, you need to Write Celtic.
Is Mark Willson, involved with this site as well?
