Why is it that with every player Celtic is linked to, we’re in a “tug of war” with the Ibrox side for them??

Let’s get one thing straight here, Celtic will never be involved in a tug of war with the Ibrox side for any player.
The ridiculous assertions by the media of late in relation to Tommy Conway, and Scott McKenna, are exactly that.
Ridiculous assertions.
A couple of days ago, the Record was stating we could be involved in a “mega tug of war” for the signature of Tommy Conway.
The asking price for Conway?
£300,000.
Could you see us getting involved in a “mega tug of war” for a player like Tommy Conway?
Look, if we wanted Conway, we’d get him, and the Ibrox side wouldn’t stop us.
Simply because Celtic has the finances required, we have the winning pedigree required, and we have the guarantee of Champions League football.
None of which the Ibrox side has.
If Conway is an Ibrox fan, then that won’t stop us either.
It hasn’t stopped us in the past, it won’t stop us now.
That is, if we actually want the player, and the Record doesn’t provide any solid evidence that we do.
Either way, there would be no “mega tug of war”, if we wanted to secure Conway’s services.
That kind of statement is simply to secure clicks and reads.
The last time we were involved in any kind of tug of war with the Ibrox side was 17 years ago.
The player in question?
Scott Brown.
Currently, they aren’t capable of going head to head with us when it comes to securing any players.
The days of “for every fiver they spend, we’ll spend a tenner” are long gone.
But it still doesn’t stop the media thinking they can actually compete with us financially.
Which makes the Conway story all the more laughable, considering the size of the fee mentioned for him.
As soon as it was announced Scott McKenna was interested in coming north of the border to play again, with Celtic a possible destination, the Ibrox side were also interested in him.
McKenna, of course, is now a free agent.
#And he has stated he’s open to a return to Scottish football.
But he has not indicated where he’d like to play.
Here’s what he had to say on the subject:
But in terms of the speculation, that’s all it’s ever been. It has never really gone any further than that and until there is anything that’s more than that I don’t really have anything to think about. I’m without a club so I think I would need to consider anything. As I mentioned, there is nothing as of now so there is nothing to think about.”
But McKenna admits his phone has been red hot in recent days with pals asking if he’s on the verge of a move to either side of Glasgow. He said: “Of course. That is just natural when you have got teams the size of Celtic and Rangers.
I know a lot of people who support both teams so it is going to happen, they are going to question you. But there is nothing to tell.
There is nothing to tell.
There is no indication of where McKenna would like to go.
He’s playing his cards very close to his chest.
However, I’m willing to go out on a limb here.
The Ibrox side will not secure his signature.
Why do I think this?
Once again, they cannot offer what we can.
McKenna knows that he will have guaranteed Champions League football at Parkhead.
Something he experienced at Copenhagen, while out on loan with them last season.
He will also know he has more chance of winning a league title with Celtic.
Because all he has to do is look at the last three seasons.
The law of averages dictates he has a better chance of winning the title with us, than he does with the Ibrox side.
When it comes to wages, the Ibrox side will probably try and offer him more than we would.
But that’s down to the fact that they’re gung-ho when it comes to their wage structure.
It’s probably the biggest reason behind their inability to post any profits since they crawled out of the grave of the previous entity.
But I believe McKenna will make the right call.
The kind of call you make for footballing reasons, and the advancement of your career.
Become a serial loser at Ibrox, or a serial winner at Celtic.
I know what I’d choose.
The aforementioned players are just two examples of the players in recent days who we’ve been linked with, and immediately, the Ibrox side is also linked.
You can be guaranteed this number will multiply radically when the summer transfer window opens tomorrow.
Not only that, but we’ll also start hearing tales from Ibrox signings about “how they could have gone to Celtic, but chose R*****s instead”.
Because they showed more ambition than us.
When clearly, there will never have been any interest from us in these players.
Looks like we might be about to lose “the tug of war cup” as well.
Oh well.

Employees Liability Insurance. This has been in the public for a while. They had to establish whether the paedophiles involved were employees or not.
