Kris Boyd believes “it will take four or five windows for (Ibrox) to get where they want to be in relation to Celtic.” With what exactly? Oh yeah, that magic word “INVESTMENT”

Yesterday I did a piece on the actual definition of investment and the continued reference to it at Ibrox.
There seems to be a distinct lack of understanding in the Scottish Sports media in relation to this.
A big reason for this is because most of the media is filled with Ibrox cheerleaders.
Who yearn for a return to the glory days of yore at Ibrox.
This yearning is what drives their everlasting belief that the much feted investment required at Ibrox to compete with Celtic will eventually come.
At Ibrox, everything revolves around the quick fix.
The words long-term and planning are not in the Ibrox vocabulary.
What is first and foremost in the Ibrox vocabulary is “Stop Celtic!”
Whatever that costs is irrelevant, but it must be funded by “investment”.
In other words, other people’s money because it is impossible for the club to generate any of it’s own.
If they had that capability, then they would not be a loss making business without an overdraft facility, would they?
So, it would be a stretch to expect someone like Kris Boyd to have any kind of understanding of the concept of investment.
If Tom English fails to grasp it, well…..you catch my drift?
Today, we’ll delve into the world of a village idiot.
The life of a village idiot is actually quite a simple one, because village idiots don’t really have a conscience.
Therefore, when they say really stupid things, they do so because they don’t care about the consequences of saying such things.
Nor do they care what people think of them.
They are oblivious to the scorn people pour on their idiocy.
Like I said, a simple life, with very few worries.
Even less worries if you get PAID to be an idiot.
Ibrox cheerleader Kris Boyd gets paid for his opinions, which I’m sure for him is amazing.
However, he believes his opinions are intelligent.
So, for the likes of you and me, who see him as a village idiot, he is oblivious to what we think.
He plays to a certain gallery, a certain intellect, and I’m pretty sure the majority of that intellect thinks he’s intelligent.
This is what he thrives on.
In an article in yesterday’s Record, Boyd’s comments on John Gilligan’s recent interview shows a total refusal to engage with the reality of the Ibrox side’s situation.
Here are some key take-outs from that article, I’ve taken the liberty of correcting some of the brutal typos and grammar mistakes as well:
He can’t come out and say it’s going to take four or five transfer windows and we’re going to write off a couple of seasons because you don’t get that at (Ibrox). That might be the thoughts behind the scenes in terms of it taking a couple of seasons to get back on track but the reality is, they won’t get that time. They’ve backed Philippe Clement in terms of transfers and by all reports, they’re going to do the exact same again. That’s exactly what needs to happen if you’re going to improve.
The fact that they’re going to “do the exact same again” in terms of transfers means nothing is going to change over there.
Of course, Boyd says this is exactly what needs to “happen if you’re going to improve”.
Which shows a complete lack of understanding on his behalf of what really needs to happen.
John Bennett knew the brakes needed to be put on crazy spending.
He knew if they didn’t, it would put the club’s survival at stake.
John Gilligan has decided to listen to idiots like Boyd and plough on with the old tried and tested method.
If it’s broke, let’s keep it broken.
And as a result, we’ll be broke and still operating at a loss.
Which is not sustainable in the long term.
But we absolutely HAVE to keep up with Celtic.
Which is an impossibility in their current state, and may just cause the death of the new club to add to the death of the old one.
This particular paragraph from Boyd is a prime example of the complete disconnect from reality over there:
If you back to Steven Gerrard’s time, (Ibrox) stalled and fell asleep at the wheel. You could see it happening back then. They didn’t improve on a title winning team and all of a sudden it came back to bite them on the backside and that’s where R*****s have been now for a number of years. Right now it’s about building the blocks to take the club forward again.
They didn’t fall asleep at the wheel.
The maxed out and hit their ceiling.
Winning a Covid title was their absolute ceiling.
The pinnacle of Gerard’s limited abilities as a manager.
They couldn’t improve on that because that was as good as it was going to get.
They put all of their eggs in the Champions League basket after that season.
In the hopes this would give Gerard the funds he needed to take his side to the next level.
We all know how that worked out.
Ironically, they face their old nemesis tonight, killer of the old club, and the new club’s dreams and aspirations of dominance, Malmö FF.
Third time lucky?
We’ll see this evening.
In the final paragraph of the article, Boyd seems convinced that the board will not change managers, no matter what, as long as Clement keeps winning games:
Clement will know that it’s well and good getting the backing. You need to win games of football. You win games of football, you’ll be fine. Rangers right now have an opportunity to go and do that over the next few weeks and see where it takes them. The players will be looking at it and there is that relief there that potentially, there isn’t going to be another change because that’s the thing with Rangers over the last few years; it’s just been turnover after turnover and you can’t run a business like that.
Well, I guess firstly, it’ll be interesting to see how they perform against Malmö tonight.
A loss there isn’t going to do Clement any favours.
In fact, the Europa league could be what unravels his situation completely.
Considering the opponents they’ve been drawn against in that competition.
Overall, looking at that article, Boyd believes they’ll keep Clement, as long as he keeps winning.
You know, winning, the basic tenet for any football manager?
He’s finally realised that constantly sacking managers is bad for business.
The unfortunate reality in football is that managers get sacked if they don’t win games.
Clement isn’t exempt from that.
So, in an ideal world, Boyd wants Clement to keep on winning with the resources he has.
Which clearly aren’t good enough, well, not good enough to keep up with Celtic.
And of course, the board are going to “do the exact same again” and back the winning manager in the next transfer window.
By buying players with money they don’t have.
With the “investment” that’s coming, of course.
Boyd’s laughable understanding of “investment” was highlighted last week when he said both Celtic and the Ibrox club should be worried about Tony Bloom’s £10 million investment in Hearts.
Just like every other Ibrox cheerleader, he conveniently ignores UEFA’s financial stability regulations.
Unlike the magical Ibrox investors, Bloom will require a return on his investment.
Otherwise, he wouldn’t invest.
Of course, that doesn’t apply to Ibrox.
People always just invest over there out of their love of the club.
Lucky them.
Boyd would do well to understand it’s the only reason they’re alive today.
This mode of survival cannot go on indefinitely, and you can be sure UEFA will be watching it closely.
The walls are closing in on them and no amount of obfuscation or bluster from the likes of John Gilligan will change that.
They might get away with financial doping in the eyes of the SFA, but UEFA will not tolerate it.
It will catch up on them eventually.
The two most certain things in life caught up with the old club; death and taxes.
Soon enough UEFA will catch up with the new club.
Tick tock, tick tock.
Whenever I see big fake Kris Boyd and the Scottish Sun in the same vicinity of a page , I automatically think ..yes there is a match made in heaven ! Those two were formed to encounter each other at some point of their being . It’s like having an extra hot curry washed down with pints of Guinness ! Sooner rather than later the Kharzi is involved to accommodate the aftermath.
There is another magic word! (Well, a hyphenated word at least).
Tax-avoidance!
Their predecessors went under using this very tactic. One they themselves to this day don’t quite understand why after years of having been allowed to get away with it, were finally penalized. The new club can try this route! After all, they are very good at being selective when it comes to such things. “We are the same club that won trophies before, (corruptly and otherwise), but a new club if you expect us to pay off the debts of the club that are now extinct” 🤷🏼♂️
From a financial point of view the ranjerks brought a knife to a gun fight. They seem to think that getting someone to buy a new knife will make a difference.
Their hatred of Celtic is blinding them to reality, their pathological need to be at the top of the Scottish Football pyramid is killing them.
So be it. Last century’s ethos of spend spend spend (somebody else’s money of course) does not work in this century.
We have seen this movie before. The talk and bluster that surrounds the current version of the rangers, is pretty much the same as the nonsense that accompanied the auld rangers. Media and ex players, which are pretty much one and the same thing have been spouting the same old same old for years now.
Long may it continue because they are absolutely miles away from closing the gap on Celtic.
