So, let me get this straight…Graham Potter has turned down jobs offers from prestigious clubs like Ajax and Nice?
He’s “unconvinced” by Leicester City’s attempts to bring him in.
But the idea of managing the Ibrox side “would get his juices flowing”??
I could definitely think of better ways to get the juices flowing, but hey, that’s just me.
Mark Pirie is selling crazy in the Record again today, with his article on Potter’s managerial ambitions.
The article in question start’s with a lot of waffle from Potter about his managerial ambitions.
Well, what he’d like to do when returns to management one day.
Funnily enough, at no point in this narrative does he even mention the Ibrox side.

Not once.
So, Pirie manages to publish a load of waffle from Potter, which has no reference to the Ibrox side at all.
He starts the article with this statement:
Out of work Graham Potter is planning a “continual process” of improvement as he eyes a return to management – just weeks after it was claimed a move to R*****s would get his juices flowing.
Just weeks after IT was claimed, or HE claimed it would get his juices flowing??
Now, it appears to me that Pirie is getting a bit economical with the truth to begin with.
A bit of sleight of hand, where I’m sure he’s relying on the fact that his chosen readership would overlook his little bit of deception completely.
It’s not until we get past all of the irrelevant waffle from Graham Potter about his managerial aspirations that we discover how he even created this story.
So here it is:
The comments come after former England international Robinson claimed to know for a fact that Potter would be interested in becoming Rangers manager. The former Leeds, Tottenham, Blackburn and Burnley goalkeeper: “Rangers Football Club is a massive attraction for a manager to take over.
Ok, a few questions….
Which comments, and who did they come from?
Because Graham Potter says nothing about the Ibrox side in his comments.

And who is Robinson?
Robinson Cruesoe?
Ok, for those of a slightly older generation, it’s former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson.
And apparently he knows for a fact that Potter would be interested in becoming the Ibrox manager.
Well ok, we’ll take his word for it.
Mark Pirie does anyway.
“R*****s football club is a massive attraction for a manager to take over”?
Is it?
Is it really?
Well, I suppose it is, if you’re attracted to career suicide.
I somehow get the feeling that Graham Potter doesn’t harbour that kind of attraction.

Well, at least you’d think he wouldn’t if he had a brain in his head.
Especially when the likes of Ajax, Nice and Leicester are after your services.
Pirie gamely tries to convince his readership through Robinson’s comments that Potter would absolutely love to take the job:
Managers don’t pick up jobs while teams are doing well. Going into R*****s now with the task to turn them around wouldn’t take a lot. There’s absolutely no doubt they can attract a big name like Potter, and he would be attracted by such a huge job. I know that for a fact.
Now there’s teams that aren’t doing well, and there are teams that are crashing and burning.
I think it’s fair to say that the Ibrox side currently fall into the crashing and burning category.
Robinson is being a tad ambitious to suggest there’s absolutely no doubt that the Ibrox side could attract the likes of Graham Potter.
Even if he did move to Ibrox, and that’s a big IF, Brendan Rodgers and Celtic would own him.
It’s clear Robinson doesn’t follow the Scottish game closely either when he says it wouldn’t take a lot to turn them around.

But he knows for a FACT that Graham Potter would be attracted to such a HUGE job.
So who I am to question Paul Robinson?
Oh, don’t get me wrong, I’ve no doubt the Ibrox side would love to have someone like Graham Potter, but there’s just that pesky question of finances when you want to attract an ex-EPL manager.
They just haven’t got that kind of cash lying around at Ibrox.
But nonetheless, Pirie finishes his article full of optimism:
So, could the project at Rangers tempt Potter with the club in the midst of a massive overhaul and fan fury rising at Philippe Clement? Incoming CEO Patrick Stewart might have to convince the board to spend big if they were to attempt the ambitious appointment.
Project?
That’s a polite term I suppose.
Literal translation is this, “So, could the absolute shitshow at Ibrox tempt Potter, with the club in the midst of a financial crisis and fans baying for Philippe Clement’s head?”
Yes, indeed.
I’m sure that’s exactly the kind of “project” Graham Potter is searching for.
Believe me, there are easier projects out there.
And that final comment in relation to the kind of convincing new CEO Patrick Stewart might have to do to get the Ibrox board to spend big to attempt the ambitious appointment?
In order to spend, one requires dosh.
It doesn’t grow on trees, I’m afraid.
There’s ambition and fantasy.
I’m afraid this article by Mark Pirie falls into the fiction/fantasy category.
Dream on.
Hands Christian Anderson comes to mind reading that article.
Delusional so called journalists trying to keep the tribute act relevant 🙄
FFP doesn’t enter that mind head does it and do they think Potter will take a job that pays relative penny’s compared to most other clubs
They still think Rangers 1872-2012 didn’t die so why wouldn’t they fantasise about a top manager coming to Ipox? These peepul are all as much basket cases as their club is, they just talk utter pish, they should bring back Jackanory for the amount of fictitious stories that they dream up. It would be sad if it wasn’t so funny and I hope they keep making up stuff like this for our entertainment as the Banter Years continue, in fact they seem never ending.
This guy is an odd customer with an odd name. He has two fixations. The Celtic board and the zombie club. When we are flying, doing well in Europe and things are good he struggles to give any credit. So he writes about the zombies. If not them it’s his favourite tiresome topic ‘ra board’ and how they are all vampires in suits etc. It’s his USP and it has a market in these dumb times. He has a loyal following among the less educated amongst the Celtic support because he writes in short sentences with plenty of photographs like a Daily Mail article. He’s a boring fool and just another gasbag wasting bandwidth.
I trust you are one of that following then, dear Brian? As here you are yet again, without fail, critiquing my work. Whatever would I do without you?
Graham Potter? I’m afraid even Harry Potter couldn’t turn the zombies around with the Resurrection Stone and the Elder Wand.
Maybe Jean Luc Picard is hoping Q will turn up and magic all their problems away.
A completely moot point and article. Der Hun simply can’t afford the contract settlement fee to fire Clément. He’ll be here for some considerable time to come.

You are an absolute fanny who slags the writer, but still insists on reading his opinions!!
What a tadger
Chris
you should have said hun tadger
Brian , if you don’t like Eric’s blog , simply pass it by , your comments are not in line with as you say us less educated fans.
Write your own blog if you want to praise the celtic board and never have talk about anything sevco related again.
I like many open minded celtic fans enjoy Eric’s blog, and the many other celtic sites immensely as they let us know what’s going on in sevconia and hold the boards feet , when required to the fire, I for 1 immensely enjoy reading daily about the basket case klub going from 1 disaster to the next with relish .
Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but you have become increasingly tiresome , but then again I’m just 1 of the less educated fans you think we all are , in reality Brian you are the 1 that is extremely boring with your over inflated sense of importance and superiority complex.
