Ibrox fans laughed at Ange Postecoglou when he took over at Celtic. They’re laughing at him again now. They do so at their peril

First and foremost, Ange Postecoglou did not have a good day at the office yesterday.

A 4-3 defeat to Chelsea at the Tottenham Stadium has applied further pressure to his already precarious position.

However, he is still the Tottenham manager this morning.

Which means he will still be the Tottenham manager next Thursday.

When he heads to Ibrox, where he is the source of much mirth at the moment.

Ibrox fans are dreaming they’ll defeat his side and they’ll be singing “You’re getting sacked in the morning!”

It is exactly that, a dream.

I even did a parody article on their chances last week.

Ange Postecoglou owned the Ibrox side for the two years he managed Celtic, and he will own them again on Thursday evening.

If anything, this side is weaker than the sides he faced during his time in Glasgow.

And while they might be overperforming in the Europa League so far, beating Ange Postecoglou and his Tottenham side will be a bridge too far for them.

The Ibrox fans, of course, are loving the struggles he’s going through at the moment.

But what better way to steer his Tottenham side back on course, than by inflicting a heavy defeat on his old enemies next Thursday evening?

The Ibrox fans never learn, though, do they?

They laughed heartily when we signed Ange Postecoglou as our manager back in 2021.

They were convinced that they would dominate Scottish football for many more years after Celtic failed to seal 10IAR, and our squad was decimated.

They weren’t laughing for very long.

By February of 2022, they knew exactly what Ange Postecoglou was capable of.

So, if they’re laughing today, they’re laughing at their peril.

Playing Chelsea, and losing to them does not compare to playing Philippe Clement’s team. 

It is a huge difference to playing the likes of the Ibrox side.

Ange Postecoglou will know exactly how to set his side up against them.

This morning, the Record were singing from the rooftops about how Jadon Sancho revealed his side had planned to burst Angeball.

They believe that his trip to Ibrox will be “season defining”.

Who’d have thought the Ibrox side would be deciding his fate as Tottenham manager?

Yeah, right.

I suppose the Record has to give their main readership some hope for Thursday night.

If Ange Postecoglou needed any motivation to get his side back on track, then Thursday night is the perfect opportunity to achieve that.

Tottenham are a wounded animal at the moment.

They have some top-class players in their ranks.

Do the klanbase really think that they have the beating of them?

Do they imagine that the likes of James Madison, Brennan Johnson and Son Heung-Min are going to allow themselves to be humiliated by Clement’s rag tag mob?

I’ll put it this way, if they do, then they’ll deserve what comes their way after.

But I sincerely doubt their manager will allow it to happen.

Ange Postecoglou will go to Ibrox with a steely determination to get his side back on track.

I expect a high scoring win for Tottenham.

And I’m pretty damn sure their manager does too.

I’m looking forward to watching this.

And I’m looking forward to watching Ange Postecoglou shut them up at Ibrox again.

This one has grudge match written all over it.

Grudge or no grudge, Ange will have the last laugh.
