Ibrox penalty error takes precedence over all else in last Sunday’s League Cup final, while a myriad of fouls on Celtic players are completely ignored…

Celtic won the League Cup final, right?
So, really, we have nothing to complain about do we?
For a minute here, let’s delve into an alternate universe.
The SMSM love doing this all the time, so I’m going to give it a shot.
Let’s just say the Ibrox side were awarded the penalty they believe they were screwed out of.
And then let’s just say they won the League Cup final as a result of scoring from that penalty.
In this alternate universe, Celtic would be feeling extremely hard done by.
The first point which would require attention would be the fact that Robin Propper pulled and obstructed Cameron Carter-Vickers for the Ibrox side’s second goal.
CCV cannot break free from Propper, his jersey is tugged, and then Propper wraps his arm around CCV’s, effectively making him a bystander for Diomande’s goal.
This is a clear and obvious foul, and CCV is clearly seen remonstrating with John Beaton after the incident.
Beaton chose to ignore it.
He did not seek clarification on it from Alan Muir and Frank Connor in the VAR room.
Nor did they even pick it up.
Celtic would have every right to be aggrieved in this situation.
But would our protests, if our CEO Michael Nicholson actually had the courage to demand answers for this in the alternate universe, have amounted to anything?
We all know the answer to this.
Willie Collum would probably have toed the party line in his VAR show with Gordon Duncan, and said the exact same thing that he has about the Ibrox side’s penalty decision.
It was unacceptable, mistakes have been made, yadah, yadah, yadah.
Celtic would have been left raging, but the League Cup would still be at Ibrox in the alternate universe.
Back to the real world now.
So, for posterity, I’m going to agree that, based on the rules, Alan Muir and Frank Connor’s decision not to award the penalty to the Ibrox side was “unacceptable”.
However, their decision to ignore Robin Propper’s pulling and obstruction of CCV was also unaccpetable.
IGNORE being the operative word here.
Because its still being ignored.
In fact, every transgression, and there were quite a few by Ibrox players, is being ignored.
All that matters is this penalty decision.
And this has resulted in everything else being forgotten about.
It DOESN’T matter, because Celtic won.
And it didn’t cost Celtic.
Only the decision that cost the Ibrox side matters.
But what did the Ibrox side expect?
If the VAR team couldn’t spot an incident like the Propper/CCV one, then how did the Ibrox side expect they’d pick up on their penalty decision?
If Muir and Connor didn’t spot Leon Balogun’s deliberate kicks on Reo Hatate and CCV while he was already on yellow card, then what did the Ibrox side expect?
They need to understand that they are supposedly being refereed to the same standard we are.
And if it is then the same standard, then they should expect the kind of standards we expect.
Which are shit.
If YOUR second goal wasn’t disallowed, then you sure as shit won’t be getting a penalty either.
Them’s the breaks with sub-standard, amateur referees.
Get used to it.
Celtic did a long time ago.
Hell, we’ve even just accepted it.
All the wailing and whining in the world has never changed it, and it never will.
Welcome to our world.
But here’s the harsh reality, it only ever matters when you lose.
And you lost.
You and your compliant media are letting the whole world know you lost.
Newsflash, nobody gives a shit.
You’ve benefitted from shit refereeing for years, now that the shoe is on the other foot, you’re squealing your heads off over it.

We,the Celtic family, have had to endure decades of this kind of shit, all the while being told to suck it up because the SFA and their media lackeys decided that the farcical decisions were,(drum roll) “honest mistakes!!”
It’s thanks to the gutless wonders in the Celtic boardroom that this situation endures to this day as they have no stomach to raise any form of counter protest let alone be proactive when ANY form of controversy raises it’s head.
Oh,for a time when the Celtic support will have leadership worthy of their loyalty to the club instead of the parasitic charlatans we have had to make do with since Fergus completed what he set out to do.
Were a world class club with third rate custodians who are more concerned with filling their own bank accounts than protecting our players and staff from attacks on and off the pitch by people who despise us for what we are.
It’s going to get a whole lot worse because that’s what happens when you don’t stand up for your rights !

Great summary of whole situation – I’ve been looking for a little bit of attention being brought to the utterly persistent fouling by Newco players & how Beaton held off & held off before taking any action. It was blatantly obvious & the Newco game plan from the start to stop Celtic playing & the truth is the plan failed. I’ve found it hard to get the stats on how many fouls they committed in the game but 8 yellow cards kind of sums up their tactics – and as you point out Balogan should have walked. Kuhn was also a target for them – another major Celtic playmaker. It’s beyond belief that a team which has recently gone 2 full seasons in the SPL without conceding a penalty has the audacity to make ONE controversial moment in Celtic’s thoroughly deserved victory such a media-fronted witch hunt. And it’s no surprise their manager – Jackanory Clement – was quick to dive onto the questionable incident as the number 1 excuse on his compulsory blame list. And to finish, credit to Aberdeen supporters who all stayed to applaud their team after losing semi-final 6-0 to Celtic. Oh…and the ‘Loyal’ 7(SEVEN) Newco who stayed for their team after Sunday’s defeat.
Well done Eric for highlighting the foul on CCV leading to Rangers second goal. I cannot believe this hasn’t been mentioned before now and discussed more. I think the media needs to be reminded of this.

It seems that every time we humble these “superior beings” on the field of play that they were by some way or means robbed of victory.
Well,they better get godamned used to it if they haven’t already because they have now become our bitch,plaything or whatever else we care to call them.

Eric great piece mate, see when Rangers 1872-2012 were cheating their way through Scottish football by using EBT’s to buy players they couldn’t have afforded otherwise we were told ‘aye but we won it on the pitch’ well surely that is now our reply to them as Celtic won that game on the pitch. It’s unfortunate but irrelevant that the referee and VAR failed to notice a supposed penalty during the game but we’re dealing with human beings who all make mistakes that’s what we’ve been told for years before and even after VAR was introduced. The Ibrox club and its support should be told suck it up buttercup because that we’ve been told since time immemorial, I’ve never seen a meltdown like this over one decision but they lost their self-proclaimed accolade of ‘most successful football club in the world’ which was bullshit anyway and that’s the real reason the public outcry from their side is rampant. It’s good enough for the Tangerine coloured chaps without a father, we were robbed for over a century and never complained like this and for them to claim cheating has gone on is laughable when the SFA and SPFL have given them every helping over the two clubs reign. GIRFUY is all I can say to that we’ve been subjected it and now the shoe’s on the other foot and I’m pissing myself laughing and I will be till the day I die their hun tears are delicioso.

Never a penalty. Collum is only pandering to the New Rangers. In this instance Scales did commit 2 fouls but the 1st one took place outside the corner of the box. Beaton correctly blew up for this foul. This negated the 2nd foul when. Cerny stood on the line. It was not a continuous foul as Collum says so the VAR team got it right to.
