Day 10 of the January transfer window, and nothing to report from Celtic…an all too familiar feeling?

Celtic transfer news has been fairly non-existent for the first ten days of this transfer window.

Whether this represents a good thing, or a bad thing, remains to be seen.

Aside from the Kieran Tierney rumours, nothing of note has emerged thus far.

An all too familiar feeling?

Well, either the meeting in Dublin decided the targets Brendan Rodgers wanted, and the board and the “football doctor”, Paul Tisdale, are working diligently in the background to get them over the line, or this is just Celtic being Celtic in the transfer window.

Our distinguished chairman has consistently stated that the January transfer window is always notoriously difficult.

Solely for Celtic.

Apparently.

Most other clubs in Britain seem capable of getting deals over the line.

Celtic always “struggle”.

Asides from the Kieran Tierney rumours, the old Jota rumour is rearing it’s head again.

But Besiktas looks the likely destination for him according to the Record.

Outside of that, the only other name to be linked to the club is Lausanne Sport’s Alvyn Sanches.

Apparently his club want £7 million for him.

So, we can forget about that.

There’s no way Celtic would sanction spending that much on a 21 year old.

Even though Leeds, Lazio, Newcastle and Fiorentina are the clubs interested in him.

If clubs of that calibre are interested, surely he must be a decent enough prospect?

Lest we forget, of course, the Mathias Kvistgaarden to Celtic saga has emerged again.

This one has been doing the rounds for quite some time now.

Nearly 2 years at this stage.

It’s getting a bit old now.

But every transfer window that comes around, it seems to be resurrected again.

Yesterday, in the Record, Mark Pirie brought it up again.

To be honest, that just smacks of desperation because there is literally nothing to report in relation to Celtic making moves for players.

I wish I had more to write about on this subject.

For us bloggers, the transfer window usually provides us with plenty to write about.

However, this January window, and the previous one, are looking almost identical so far.

Yes, we were underwhelmed at the business we carried out last January.

But a year on, we can look at our two signings in that window as being pretty successful.

Nicolas Kühn has been outstanding this season, with Adam Idah experiencing a bit of a goal drought of late.

That said, I’d expect him to find his form again, sooner, rather than later.

The Scottish Daily Mail’s Stephen McGowan referred to Idah as a bin bag, flailing around on the Ibrox turf.

A bit harsh?

You would have to say so.

Contrived?

To suit an agenda?

I’ll let you be the judge of that.

But the timing of that particular article, and the criticism contained within it about our summer siginings, makes you think it may have been released to set expectations for this transfer window.

McGowan has always been rumoured to be a mouthpiece for the Celtic board.

This evening, once again in the Record, the Gustav Isaksen to Celtic story has re-emerged.

I don’t think there’s much substance to it.

Isaksen said he’d consider a move to Celtic to be “boring”.

If that’s his attitude, Lazio can keep him.

I certainly wouldn’t want a player at Celtic who considers the club boring.

Don’t expect much to emerge from that one.

Meanwhile, the clickbait sites out there have been peddling their usual bullshit.

The Celtic Bhoys claims that Celtic are tipped to sign Burnley captain, Josh Brownhill.

The Celtic Bhoys source?

None other than that reputable, and of course, always factual site, Football Insider.

Because Paul Robinson said that he “could be a good option for Celtic”.

I guess that decides it so.

Brownhill is on his way to Celtic.

Yeah.

That pretty much sums up this January window so far.

Literally nothing to report.
